If you encounter such a person: Wrestle him to the
ground, kneel on his chest & recite Ayat-ul-Kursî on him while strangling
him!
It has been reported from Ayyūb (al Sikhtiyāni), from Abū
Qilābah who said:
“If you narrate the sunnah to a man who then tells you:
‘Don’t bother us with that, but bring us Allah’s book (the Qurān) instead.’
Then know that he is astray.”
I (al-Dhahabī ) say: “When you see the rhetorician
(philosopher) innovator say: ‘Leave us alone from the Book and aḥād narrations and bring us logic instead.’ – then know that
he is Abu Jahl.
When you see the sālik tawḥīdî
(mystic Ṣufī who is attempting to attain oneness
with the divine) saying: ‘Don’t bother us with divinely revealed texts and
logic, but bring us spiritual experience and ecstasy instead’, then know that he
is Iblīs manifest in human form or incarcenate therein. If you are afraid of
him, then flee from him. Otherwise wrestle him down, kneel on his chest, recite
Ayat-ul-Kursî on him while strangling him!”{Siyar ‘Alām al-Nubalā’}
