Don't Ask When You'll Die! ( !

Don't Ask When You'll Die! - Explained by Sheikh ibn 'Uthaymeen

Sheikh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen:

We say: Do not ask about when you will die, or where you will die because this affair does not need to be asked. It is an affair that is unavoidable and it must occur. And no matter how long you live in this world, it is as if you only remained for one day. As Allah- the Most High- stated:

On the Day they see it (the Day of Judgement), it will be as if they had stayed (in the world) no more than one evening or its morning. (Surah An-Naazi’aat: 46).

However, the question which a person must ponder upon, and (the question) which is incumbent upon the person to have the answer for is:

In what condition will you die?

I do not mean by your condition, are you rich or poor, strong or weak, with children or without. Rather, (what’s intended) is what type of actions will you die upon (obedience to Allah, or disobedience).

If you (truly) are asking yourself this question, then it is incumbent upon you to prepare it is incumbent upon you to prepare because you do not know when death will surprise you.

How many people left (their homes) driving a car, and did not return except that he was being carried on shoulders (for his Janazah). And how many people left their homes saying to their families:  Prepare the food, the lunch or dinner (assuming he will return home), but he did not eat (ever again). And how many individuals, wore their shirts and buttoned their clothing, but they never unbuttoned them. Instead, the person washing their (dead) body opened the buttons in order to wash them.

This affair is witnessed by everyone ; that individuals suddenly die due to (sudden) accidents. Therefore, right now it is upon you to reflect and contemplate about what state you will die in.

We ask Allah to grant us and you Tawbah and Inaabah (repentance and turning to Him).

For this reason, it is befitting for you to increase in istighfaar (seeking forgiveness to Allah) seek as much forgiveness as you are able!

Being Consistent in Memorising the Speech of Allah - Abu Muadh Taqweem Aslam | Salafi Audio Unlimited

NOTE: 6:28 mins Q&A session

QUESTION: What do you advice with learning & memorising the speech of Allah, ways of being persistent?...

…there are several things that Scholars have mentioned about memorisation. Firstly they say as a prerequisite, you as an individual yourself look at your state of uprightness and your state in terms of sinning. If you are a person who is a sinner and has a lot of shortcoming with your obedience as a whole then you can expect that your memory will be affected and be in correlation to your level of your obedience and your state as a worshipper of Allah as a whole. So if you want to strengthen your memory, strengthen your obedience & your worship of Allah as a whole with all of your affairs; in your prayer, in your obedience to your parents,  in all of the mannerisms of obedience to Allah and that will impact on your ability to be able to memorise - abandoning your sins  but if you are a person who is constant upon sins then you cannot expect that you will become persistent or strong in memorisation.

The Poetry of Ibn Abi Dawud – al Ha’iyah | by MASJID DAAR US SUNNAH

The Poetry of Ibn Abi Dawud – al Ha’iyah

(1) Hold tightly to the rope of Allāh and the guidance,
And do not be an innovator, so that you might be successful.

(2) And practice your religion based on the Book of Allāh and the Sunan which have come from the Messenger of Allāh so you will  be saved and earn reward.

(3) And say: Not a created  thing is the Speech of our great King,
Such was the religious position  of the pious ones (before us) who spoke well.

(4) And do not be a person who takes no position on the Quran,
As did the followers of Jahm, and they had been too lax (to take the right position).

(5) And do not say that the Qurān is created, meaning: its recitation,
Since the Speech of Allāh, through its recitation is made clear.

(6) And say: Allāh will make himself visible to all the creation, openly,
Just as the full moon is not hard to see, and your Lord (will be seen) more clearly.

(7) And He was not born, nor has He fathered anyone,
Nor is there anything similar to Him, exalted be the Glorified One.

(8) A Jahmī rejects this, however, we have

As a testimony to the truth of what we say – a adīth that clarifies it.

(9) Jarīr narrated it, from the words of Muammad,
So say what he said about that, and you will be successful.

(10) And perhaps a Jahmī might deny His Right Hand as well,
While both of His Hands are giving out all kinds of bounties.

(11) And say: The Ever-Compelling descends each night,
Without asking for exact details, magnificent is the One God and most worthy of praise.

(12) Down to the lowest heaven, granting bounties from His Grace,
As the gates of the heavens are opened and spread widely.

(13) He says: Is there anyone seeking forgiveness who would like to meet a Forgiver? Or anyone seeking bounties of goodness and provisions, so he could be given (what he requests)?

(14) A group have reported  this whose reports are not to be rejected,
But sadly some have went wrong and did not believe them, marring themselves.

(15) And say: Indeed the best of the people after Muammad
Were his two deputies of old, and then ‘Uthmān, according to the most correct position.

(16) And the fourth of them was the best of creation after them,
Alī, the companion of goodness, through goodness he was successful.

(17) Those are the people, those who have no doubt about,
Upon the great camels of Firdows, shining brightly and roaming about.

(18) Saʿīd, Saīd, Ibn ʿAwf, Talah,
ʿAmir of Fihr, and Zubayr the praiseworthy.

(19) And speak with the best terms about the Companions, all of them,
And do not be one who speaks ill of them, pointing out their faults and criticizing,

(20) Since the clear Revelation has spoke of their excellence,
And in (Sūrah) al-Fat are verses about the Companions, praising them.

(21) And regarding the pre-ordained Qadr, be convinced, since it is
The pillar that combines many affairs of the Religion, and the Religion encompasses much.

(22) And do not reject,  out of ignorance, (belief in) Nakīr and Munkar,
Or the Pool or the Scales, surely you are being advised sincerely.

(23) And say: Allāh, the Great, will remove, from  of His Grace,
Out of the Fire, people burned severely, who will then be tossed

(24) Into the river in Firdows, wherein they will regain life by its water,
Like a seed taken by a flood that comes and wipes things away  with its abundant water.

(25) And surely, the Messenger of Allāh will intercede,
And speak about the punishment of the grave, that it  is the truth, made clear.

(26) And do not make takfīr of those who pray, even if they commit sins,
Since all of them commits sins, while the Owner of the Throne forgives graciously.

(27) And do not hold a belief like that of the Khawārij, for it is
A position  held by only those who desire it, and it is destructive and disgraceful.

(28) And do not be a Murjīʿ, one who plays games with his religion,
Surely, the Murjīʿ is joking about the religion (ie. not taking it seriously).

(29) And say: Īmān (faith) consists of statements, intentions,
And actions, according to the explicit statement of the Prophet.

(30) And it decreases sometimes, due to disobedience, and sometimes
Because of obedience it grows, and on the Scale  it will outweigh (other things).

(31) And keep yourself from the opinions of people and their stances,
Since the stance of the Messenger of Allāh is more befitting and easier on ones chest.

(32) And do not be from those who play games with their religion,
Attacking the people of adīth  and reviling them.

(33) If you keep this belief all your life, O holder of this (poem),
You will be upon goodness, day and night.

Concise Notes On The Ha’iyah Poem by Imam Ibn Abu Dawud Al-Sijistani (D.316H) – A Classical Text that clarifies the Creed of Ahl al- Sunnah (Study Guide & Workbook)  here

May Allah bless the people who is behind this great benefit for their effort in spreading this aqeedah. However, in Arabic text it seems they have overlooked and have typed twice the bayt (poetry line) in no. 16. (Kindly see the original Arabic  text from the website).

I intentionally deleted the other one to avoid confusion because the Arabic text has 34 lines while its English translation has only 33.

May Allah forgive our shortcomings.
