The way to get you closer to Allah

Narrated Utban bin Malik Al-Ansari: who was one of the men of the tribe of Bani Salim:

Allahs Messenger  came to me and said, If anybody comes on the Day of Resurrection who has said: La ilaha illal-lah, sincerely, with the intention to win Allahs Pleasure, Allah will make the Hell-Fire forbidden for him.

The Link Between Blessings and Gratitude

The Link Between Blessings and Gratitude

It is reported that ʿAlī b. Abī ālib – Allāh be pleased with him – said:

Blessings arrive with gratitude [to Allāh], and gratitude is connected with more [blessings], and the two are tied together: more blessings from Allāh will never stop unless gratitude from the servant stops.

Ibn Abī Al-Dunyā, Al-Shukr article 18.

“Allāh Loves For You Three Affairs…”

Abu Hurairah reported Allahs Messenger () as saying: Verily Allah likes three things for you and He disapproves three things for you. He is pleased with you that you worship Him and associate none with Him (in worship), that you hold fast the rope of Allah, and be not divided; and He disapproves for you hearsay and gossip, persistent questioning and the wasting of wealth. Having Boyfriends & Girlfriends – Shaykh Uthaymeen

Having Boyfriends & Girlfriends – Shaykh Uthaymeen

What is the ruling on a man and woman who kiss, and do everything else other than intercourse?

These actions which you mentioned are impermissible, haram upon them, because Allah – the Most High- says:

And those who guard their chastity (i.e private parts, from illegal sexual acts) except from their  wives or that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame, but whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; Al-Muminoon 5-7

And His statement – The One free from deficiency, the Most High:

And come not near to the unlawful sexual intercourse. Verily, it is  a Fahishah [i.e. anything that transgress its limits (a great sin)], and an evil way (that leads one to Hell unless Allah forgives him). Al Israa- 32

And He did not say, and do not fornicate, for the reason of tackling everything that is a cause and leads to fornication, and this, what they are doing, is zina of the hand by touching, zina of the eye by looking, zina of the feet by walking (to do that which is haraam), this is impermissible for them, upon them is to repent from it.

And upon those in responsibility is to educate them and dissuade them from the likes of these actions, and avert them from this sin.

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) did not prohibit being alone with a strange woman (one who it is not permissible to be alone with) except fearing from this action and its likes.

So you, may Allah give you success, advise them, with that which is upon you, and warn them from this, the impermissibility of this is clear and is present in the books of tafseer, books of hadeeth, books of fiqh, all of them, and it is not allowed and it is impermissible.

"Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their private parts; that will make for greater purity for them. Indeed, Allāh is well acquainted with all that they do." [an-Nur (24):30]

Imaam ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) mentioned that from the benefits in lowering the gaze:

أنه يمنع من وصول أثر السهم المسموم الذي لعل فيه هلاكه إلى قلبه

It prevents the effects of the poisonous arrow from reaching his heart, which may lead to his destruction.

Removing Harm

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen –Rahimahullaah – said:

Explanation of the Duʿāʾ for Grief and Sorrow - ( Shaykh ʿAbd al-Razzāq al-ʿAbbād & Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Bāz (raḥimahullāh)

Explanation of the Duʿāʾ for Grief and Sorrow

....

Nothing can remove these matters of sadness, grief, worry, melancholy or depression except to return to Allāh with a true return, and a complete breaking down before Allāh, and a total submission to Him, and humbling oneself before Him and submitting one's affair to him in totality, and a complete belief in the just decree of Allāh. Alongside this, the actualisation and firm belief in the Highest Loftiest Names and Attributes of Allāh and believing in His Book, and to be concerned with reciting and reflecting upon His Book, and acting upon what is in it. With this, and not with anything else, these matters of sadness, grief and worry are removed. This is the manner of removing regret and with this alone will the chest open and serenity, peace and harmony will be brought and happiness will be actualised.

It is recorded with Imam Amad, Saī ibn Hibbān and other than them on the authority of ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd (rai Allāhu ͑anhū) that the Prophet (allallāhu ͑ alayhī wa-sallam) said,

‘No servant has ever said when met with sorrow, grief or worry, saying:

O Allāh, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant, my forelock is in Your hand (i.e. You have total mastery over), Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qurʾān the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety.’

Except that Allāh will remove his sadness grief and worry, and he will replace it with happiness.’ They (the Companions) said, ‘O Messenger of Allāh! It befits us that we learn these words.’ He said ‘Yes, it befits the one who hears them to learn them.’1

Dhikr for Repentance

From Ibn Umar-RadiAllaahu anhumma – who said:

We would count that the Messenger of Allaah –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- would say in one sitting one hundred times:

رَبِّ اغْفِرْليِ وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

O my Lord forgive me and accept my repentance indeed You are the One who forgives and Most Merciful.

Impatience does not remove the difficulty

Impatience does not remove the difficulty

Shaykh Salih Fawzan said: The keys to happiness are three, as mentioned by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahab. 1. When the person is tested he is patient 2. When he is blessed he is grateful 3. When he sins he seeks forgiveness

When the person is tested he is patient with the decree of Allah. He does  not become despondent or angry. He knows that whatever befalls him is due to his sins.

And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much. (Soorah Ahsh-Shûraa 42:30)

Therefore he takes himself to account and rectifies his actions and as a result his calamity becomes a benefit for him and a wake-up call.

This is in contrast to the person who when tested becomes despondent and angry. His impatience does not save him from the calamity nor does it allow him to reap the reward of patience. Thus he loses on both fronts.

Sadness that Hits You and You Don't Know the Reason

Ibn Taymiyah said:

Sufyān Ibn ‘Uyaynah was asked about sadness that afflicts a person and he doesn’t know the reason. He replied: “That is due to a sin which you contemplated doing but didn’t; you were given, as a recompense for it, sorrow.”
