Two Ugly Affairs

Two Ugly Affairs

Shaykh Al-Islām Ibn Taymiyah, may Allāh have mercy upon him, said:

Amongst the people there is he who Hasad leads him to backbite. Thus, he combines two ugly affairs: backbiting and envy.

The Idiot Is Known By Six Characteristics:

Ibn Al-Jawzī رحمه الله  said:

The idiot is known by six characteristics:

• Becoming angry over nothing.

• Giving to one who should not be given to.

• Speaking regarding that which is of no benefit.

• Trusting everyone.

• Spreading secrets and not differentiating (in that) between his friend and his enemy.

• Speaking about whatever comes to his heart whilst believing that he is the most intelligent of the people.

The Amazing Effect of Charity in Repelling Calamity

Ibnul-Qayyim said:

Sadaqah has an amazing effect in repelling various types of calamities, even if it may be given by a sinner  or wrongdoer; rather, (even if from) a disbeliever, Allah, the Exalted, will remove  from him various types of calamity due to it. This is an affair which is known by the people, the erudite and the commoners, and all of the people of the earth can affirm this because they have experienced it.

Why they Knowingly Reject the Truth

Shaykhul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allāh have mercy upon him, said:

“A person may know that the truth is with someone else but in spite of this, he obstinately rejects it due to his envy of that person or due to him seeking to make himself uppermost over him or due to personal desires. And those desires lead him to transgress against him and reject what he is saying by any means (necessary) while within his heart he knows that the truth is with him.”

Sadness that Hits You and You Don't Know the Reason

Ibn Taymiyah said:

Sufyān Ibn ‘Uyaynah was asked about sadness that afflicts a person and he doesn’t know the reason. He replied: “That is due to a sin which you contemplated doing but didn’t; you were given, as a recompense for it, sorrow.”

Shaykh Al-Islām said: “Sins have punishments. That which is done secrectly (is punished) secretly and that which is done openly (is punished) openly.”

When the Relief from Distress or the Answer to Your Du’ā’ is NOT Coming Quick Enough

Ibn Rajab said:

“If the believer deems the relief from distress to be delayed and loses hope on it after much supplication and humility, and the effects of the answer to his supplication are not evident then he blames himself and says to it (himself): ‘This has only come to me because of you. Had there been any good in you, you would  have been responded to.’ This self-reproach is more beloved to Allāh than an abundance of acts of obedience. For it necessitates the servant humbling himself before his Patron – Lord and acknowledging that he is deserving of that which has befallen  him from trials and that he is not deserving of a response to his supplication. When this occurs the response to his supplication  and the relief from his difficulty will come to him swiftly. For Allāh ( i.e., His relief) is  with the humility of their hearts to Him.”

The Fiqh of the Scholars vs The Barbarism of I.S.I.S

 www.Masjidashshura.org/

Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen said: If you want to kill a mouse – and killing them is recommended – then kill it with Ihsaan. Kill it with that which will remove it’s soul right away and not cause harm to it. From that which causes harm to it (the mouse) is that which some people do from placing sticky (traps) down for it then the mouse sticks to it and is left to die hungry and thirsty. This is not permissible. If you place one of these traps down you must repeatedly check and watch it so that if you find anything on it you can kill it (right away). As for leaving it for two and three days such that a mouse lands upon it and is made to die hungry and thirsty it is feared that you will enter the fire due to this. For the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: A woman entered the fire due to a cat which she locked up and did not feed, nor did she allow it to roam freely so that it may eat from the vermin of the land.

Safeguarding One’s Tongue is the  Foundation of Every Good

Concerning the Hadīth of the Prophet :

ألا أخبرك بملاك ذلك كله؟ قلت: بلى، فأخذ ﷺ بلسانه
 فقال: كف عليك هذا

Shall I not inform you of that which is inclusive of all this? I (the narrator) said: ‘Of course.’ He grabbed hold of his tongue and said: Restrain this!

Al-Hāfidh Ibn Rajab said:

This indicates that restraining the tongue, controlling it, and safeguarding it is the foundation of every good. And that he who controls his tongue has mastery over all his affairs, has them set in order and under control.

Be Good to Your Father - by al-ʿAllāmah Zayd ibn Muhammad al-Madkhali [D.1435 AH]

www.Masjidashshura.org/

Be Good to Your Father

On the authority of Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar may Allāh be pleased with him, who said that the Prophet said:

The Pleasure of Allāh lies in the pleasure of the father and the Displeasure of Allāh lies in the displeasure of the father.

Shaykh Zayd Al-Madkhalī said:

In this Hadīth there is clarification of the displeasure of Allāh being brought about by the displeasure of the father for his disrespectful child, male or female. This is only due to that which he (the father) has from rights. The father was the means for the existence of the child by way of seeking marriage with his/her mother. He is responsible for the caretaking, and upbringing of the child within the cradle, in childhood, and thereafter. The father cares for his child even when he becomes an adult. The care for the childs never stops. Due to this, the Pleasure of Allāh is brought about for the one who is good to his/her father and His displeasure is brought about due to the disrespect of the child. Because the reward with Allāh will be in proportion to the action. It is known that the father in his right mind will be pleased by any act of kindness from his child, even it may be small.
