Shaikh Salih al-Fawzan حفظه الله تعالى stated:
“Ibn ‘Abbas رضي الله
عنهما was rebuking in his time that people had begun to love and hate
due to worldly affairs, so what about in our time now? No doubt the affair has
increased, many people have lost these traits:
Enmity for the sake of Allah, and Allegiance for the sake of
Allah, Loving for the sake of Allah and Hating for the sake of Allah… except
those whom Allah pleases.
So every one of us needs to examine himself, so as not to be
from the masses who have lost this great principle, like those who do not have allegiance
except upon Hizbiyyah and (false) Methodology, so whomsoever agrees with them
upon their Hizbiyyah and false methodology they love him even if he is an enemy
of Allah and His Messenger, and whomsoever opposes them they hate him even if
he is a wali of Allah”.
