have two strengths: strength of love and strength of hate.
Mankind was only created this way so that they may love the truth which Allāh loves and hate the falsehood which Allāh hates, and
those are the ones who love Allāh and are loved by Allāh.

369. Anas bin Malik رضي الله عنه reported:
A bedouin came to Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and said to him, “When will be the Hour (i.e., the Day of Resurrection)?” He (the Prophet ﷺ) said, “What preparation have you made for it?” He said, “Only the love of Allāh and His Messenger.”Then Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “You will be with those whom you love.”[Al-Bukhāri and Muslim]
The
narration in Muslim is: The man replied: “I have made no significant
preparation with regard to Salāh (prayer), Saūm (fasting) and Sadaqah (charity) but I love Allāh and His Messenger.”
Commentary: The love of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ for Allāh and His Prophet ﷺ was not verbal only, as is the case of present-day Muslims. Their love was full of obedience and submission to Allāh in the true sense. This is what the Bedouin mentioned in this Hadīth really meant when he said that he had not amassed a large treasure by way of Salāt, Saūm (fasts) and Sadaqah for presentation on the Day of Resurrection. What he meant by them was voluntary acts and not the obligations. The reason being that the obligatory acts like Salāt , Saūm and Zakāt are incumbent on every Muslim and no one can claim to be a true believer and lover of Allāh and His Prophet ﷺ who ignores them. Any Muslim who entertains true love of Allāh and His Prophet ﷺ, makes it evident in his practical life by his strict performance of the duties and obligations enjoined by Allāh and demonstrated by His Prophet ﷺ through his Sunnah. Even if such a person does not have to his credit a large amount of voluntary acts, he will be successful by Allāh. This is the real import of this Hadīth, otherwise a Muslim’s claim for the love of Allāh and His Prophet ﷺ will be void if he does not fulfill his religious obligations. In fact, without the fulfillment of religious obligations, his claim will be nothing short of self-deception. His claim for the love of Allāh and His Prophet ﷺ, which is not supported by his actions will carry no weight before Allāh.This is what the following Āyah of the Noble Qur’ān enjoins: “Say (O Muhammad ﷺ to mankind:) ‘If you (really) love Allāh then follow me (i.e., accept Islāmic Tauhid, follow the Qur’ān and the Sunnah), Allāh will love you and forgive your sins. And Allāh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’” (3:31)

The heart was created to acquire knowledge of its Creator and to love Him, worship Him Alone, be content with Him, to be joyous loving Him and to feel satisfied with Him. The heart was also created to rely on Allāh, to love fo His Sake, hate for His Sake, to be loyal for His Sake, to be enemies of His enemies for His Sake and to remember Him always. The heart was created to love Him more than anyone or anything else, to have Hope in Him rather than anyone or anything else and to revere Him more than anything or anyone else. There is no joy, happiness, delight or sweetness except by acquiring such qualities, which are just like food, good health and life for the heart.When the heart looses its food, health and life, then sadness, grief and affliction will attack it from all sides and will remain with it.
The
worst diseases that attack the heart are Shirk (polytheism, making partners
with Allāh), sins, and forgetfulness, ignoring what Allāh likes and is pleased
with, abandoning relating all matters to Him and not depending on Him for
everything. Diseases of the heart also include relying on other than Allāh, rejecting His decisions
and doubting and ignoring His warnings and promises.
When
one thinks about the diseases of the heart, he will find that the reasons that
we mentioned are the only ones behind these ills.

Allah the Exalted said:
وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ
And He is Oft-Forgiving, Full of love (Soorah Al Burûj 85:14)
Imam
as-Sa’di said: The subtly for “Full of love” being coupled with “Oft-Forgiving”
is to show the sinners if they repent to Allah, He will forgive them of their
sins and He will love them. Those who say the repentant sinners are forgiven
but the love does not return to them are incorrect.

The Permanent Committee of Scholars
(Al-Lajnah Ad-Dā’imah) which had at its head, Imām
Abdul-‘Azeez bin Bāz (رَحِمَهُ اللهُ) stated, “It is not permitted for the Muslim to
eat that which was prepared by the Jews and Christians or idol-worshippers
specifically for their days of festivities. And it is not permitted for the
Muslims to accept a gift from them in celebration of those festivities because
that contains honouring and cooperating with them in making apparent their
religious symbols and furthering and promoting their innovations and partaking
in the happiness of their festivals. And this may ultimately lead to taking on
their festivals as our own festival.

The Meaning of Tawfīq:
Ibn al Qayyim رَحِمَهُ الله said in explaining Manāzil al-Sā’irīn (i.e. Madārij al-Sālikīn)
“Tawfīq is that Allah, from Himself, wants to do with the slave that which brings about the rectitude of the slave by enabling him to do what pleases Him, choosing, loving, and preferring that over anything else; while causing him to hate what He is displeased with or dislikes. This is purely the action of Allah and the slave is its recipient.”
Al Baghawi رَحِمَهُ الله said,
“Tawfīq from Allah is creating one’s ability to obey Him and easing the path of good, its opposite is khidhlān (being forsaken).”

Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Taymeyyah رحمه
الله said:
“The one whose Religion is upright and sound (inwardly and outwardly),
there will not be an eagerness in him (for seeking wealth and status/position).
That is because the heart, when it tastes the sweetness of servitude to Allaah
and having love for Him, there is nothing more beloved to him than that, so he
gives precedence to it over (than the love for wealth and fame/status). For
that reason Allaah turns away the people who are sincere for the sake of Allaah
from committing evil and lewd deeds:
كَذَٰلِكَ
لِنَصْرِفَ عَنْهُ السُّوءَ وَالْفَحْشَاءَ ۚ إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُخْلَصِينَ
“Thus it was, that We shall turn away from him evil and
illegal sexual intercourse. Surely, he was on of Our sincere slaves.”

Ibn Rajab said:
“If the believer deems the relief from
distress to be delayed and loses hope on it after much supplication and
humility, and the effects of the answer to his supplication are not evident
then he blames himself and says to it (himself): ‘This has only come to me
because of you. Had there been any good in you, you would have been responded to.’ This self-reproach
is more beloved to Allāh than an abundance of acts of obedience. For it
necessitates the servant humbling himself before his Patron – Lord and
acknowledging that he is deserving of that which has befallen him from trials and that he is not deserving
of a response to his supplication. When this occurs the response to his
supplication and the relief from his
difficulty will come to him swiftly. For Allāh ( i.e., His relief) is with the humility of their hearts to Him.”

Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah (d.728 A.H.) -Rahimullaah- said:
‘What
is necessary to comprehend is that Allaah Subhanahu said in His Book:
<<Say (O Muhammad): ‘If you (really) love Allaah then follow me, Allaah
will love you and forgive you of your sins.>> [Aal’Imraan:31]
A
group from the Salaf said: there were a people at the time of the Messenger of
Allaah –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- who claimed that they love Allaah, so
Allaah revealed this Ayaah: <<Say (O Muhammad): ‘If you (really) love
Allaah then follow me, Allaah will love you and forgive you of your
sins.>> [Aal’Imraan:31]
So
Allaah explained that His love obligates following the Messenger –sallAllaahu
alayhi wa sallam- which in turn obligates the love of Allaah for His
slave. Allaah tested those who claim to
love Allaah by this specific love, and indeed this issue has many claimants and
those who are dubious in their love for Allaah.’

قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لِي وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا
بِي لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ (186)
186. And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad صلى
الله عليه وسلم) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed
near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant
when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me
and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright[1].

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه : Allâh’s Messenger صلى
الله عليه وسلم said, “Allâh said,
‘I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of
Mine. And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is
what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me
through performing Nawâfil till I love him. Then I become his sense of hearing
with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand
with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will
give him, and if he asks My Protection (Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e give
him My Refuge), and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the
soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him.”(Sahîh Al-Bukhârî, Vol.8, Hadîth No. 509)
