“Whoever innovates an innovation…”

‘Abdullāh ibn Mas’ūd: "So whoever reaches that time, then let him escape." A great statement by a great Sahabi about a great affair!

‘Abdullāh ibn Mas’ūd [d.32AH] radī Allāhu ‘anhu – said:

“Beware of what the people innovate from innovations for, verily, the religion is not taken from the hearts in one time. [Rather], Shaytān places innovations for him (i.e. an individual) up until īmān leaves his heart. The people are on the verge of leaving what Allāh enjoined on them from His obligations of the salāh (prayer), the siyām (fasting), the halāl, and the harām, and they [will begin to] speak [falsely] about their Lord,’Azza wa Jal.  So whoever reaches that time, then let him escape.”

It was said: ”O’ Abā ‘Abdir-Rahmān, to where?”

He replied: ”To nowhere. He escapes with his heart and his religion; he does not sit with anyone from the people of innovation.”

What Is the “Laghwu” Believers Should Avoid? - Shaykh Rabi ibn Hadi Al-Madkhali | Trans by @altasfiyah

What Is the “Laghwu” Believers Should Avoid?

SHAYKH RABĪIBN HĀDĪ AL-MADKHALĪ

Shaikh Rabī’ ibn Hādī Al-Madkhalī , may Allāh protect him, said:

And those who turn away from al-laghwu [false or wasteful talk].

(Al-Mu’minūn: 3, English explanation)

Al-Laghwu has been explained as speech that has no benefit in it; it has been explained as shirk1; it has been explained as bāṭil [that which is false or baseless]. And it may be that the verse encompasses all of these variations.

So believers do not commit shirk with Allāh, nor do they fall into bāṭil,nor do they get themselves involved in idle talk [devoid of any benefit] and wasting time on distracting pleasures  and frivolous amusements.

They are nothing but serious about their lives. They work righteous acts, seek favor with Allāh, seek [Islāmic] knowledge, and call to Allāh – serious deeds – because they have put Paradise [right there] before their eyes.

So be from among these types and turn away from al-laghwu. How much laghwu there is in this time [of ours], for it comes to people from above them, from outer space, and from under their feet, and from newspapers and magazines; and they have partaken – by Allāh – of much laghwu and bāṭil .

Don’t let the like of these matters distract you from that which Allāh, the Great and All-High, has created you for: worshipping and obeying Him, doing [all religious acts] for Him alone, standing upright upon His religion and remaining firm upon it in this life.

Don’t be from the people of worldly pleasures,of false or wasteful talk, of loss and waste – and refuge from [all] that is with Allāh.

We ask Allāh to keep us safe from these trials and tribulations, and we ask Him to keep us away from them.

Notes:
1Shirk is treating other than Allah as an equal of Allāh in something that is only Allāh’s (‘Abd al-Razzaq Al-Badr)

What is the Wording of the ‘Eid Takbeer and is it Done in Unison? - Shaykh Al-'Uthaymeen

WHAT IS THE WORDING OF THE ‘EID TAKBEER AND IS IT DONE IN UNISON

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al-‘Uthaymeen

Question: May Allaah treat you well.A message has come from thequestioner Ridaa ‘Umar, saying: Is the Takbeer on ‘Eid Al-Fitr and ‘Eid Al-Ad’haa after the prayers done in unison or individually? And what is the legislated wording which has come for the Takbeer?

Answer: The Takbeer is on the night of ‘Eid Al-Fitr up until the Imaam comes (to lead the prayer). Its description is that one says:

الله أكبر الله أكبر،لا إله إلا الله، الله أكبر الله أكبر ولله الحمد

Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Laa Ilaha Illa-Allaah; Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Wa Lillaahil-Hamd

Or he says:

الله أكبر الله أكبرالله أكبر،لا إله إلا الله، الله أكبر الله أكبرالله أكبر ولله الحمد

Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar Laa Ilaha Illa-Allaah; Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Wa Lillaahil-Hamd

Or that he says:

الله أكبر الله أكبرالله أكبر،لا إله إلا الله، الله أكبر الله أكبر ولله الحمد

Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar Laa Ilaha Illa-Allaah; Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Wa Lillaahil-Hamd

This affair is broad. It begins, on ‘Eid Al-Fitr- as I said – from the setting of the sun on the night of ‘Eid (and extends) up until the Imaam comes.

As for  ‘Eid Al-Ad’haathe Takbeer is from the entrance of the month of Dhul-Hijjah up until the last of the days of At-Tashreeq. However, it is not legislated on the day of the ‘Eid while the Imaam is delivering the sermon. This is because the people are commanded to listen to the sermon.

As for congregational Takbeer in unison, this is not from the Sunnah. Rather, everyone is to make the Takbeer individually. With this Takbeer, it is legislated for the men to raise their voices with it. As for the women, they are not to raise their voices; neither in the house nor in the market places. The woman should not raise her voice with it; however, if she is within the house and it makes her more active to say it audibly, then there is no harm.

The True Love for the Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم

The True Love for the Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم
Shaykh Fawzan حفظه الله تعالى

The proof upon loving the Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم is not just mere claims people make, or celebrations that are done…rather the proof upon it is in 4 affairs:

1. Obedience to him in what he commanded

2. Refraining from what he prohibited

3. Believing in all of that which he informed

4. Worshipping Allah only in the manner he legislated

Only a fool belittles the Importance of Aqidah in Rectification of Social ills

“When you look at the state of a number of the people who are involved in calling to Allaah, The Blessed and High, You find that they have a great concern and give much importance to rectifying that which is between the people in affairs of inheritance, affairs of marriage, affairs of selling, and a number of other important and greatly beneficial affairs. However, on the contrary, they neglect an affair which is from the most important of them all, and it is rectifying that which is between the people in the field of ‘Aqeedah and uniting the word upon the correct and pure ‘Aqeedah derived from the Book of Allaah, The Blessed and High, and the Sunnah of His Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم.

Ten Points for the First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah

الحمد الله والصلاة والسلام على نبينا محمد و على آله و سلم

Ten Points for the First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah

1.The first ten days are actually nine days with the addition of the day of Eid.It is called the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah,but only nine of it is for fasting as the tenth day is the beginning of Eid.It is impermissible to fast on the day of Eid,this is a consensus amongst the people of knowledge.

2.It is impermissible to fast the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah with the last day being the day of Arafah for those not doing Hajj. The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said in a hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما  (in at-Tirmidhi):”There are not any days that good deeds are more beloved to Allah than those done in these ten days.”

3.In these days,it is recommended that there is a lot of remembrance of Allah سبحان و تعالى – this is for all of the ten days.

4.In these days,it is recommended that one makes takbir of Allah (saying Allahu akbar) – this is for all of the ten days.

5.In these days,it is recommended to read the Qur’an as much as possible and give charity – this is for all of the ten days.

6.The ninth day is the day of Arafah. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said in an authentic narration:”Verily on the day of Arafah there is expiation of sins for the year before and the year after.”(narrated by Abi Qatada رضي الله عنه,reported in Sahih Muslim and At-Tirmidhi).So therefore it is a great day,so it is recommended to fast that day for those not doing Hajj.Fasting is only permissible for the first nine days as the tenth day is the day of Eid.

7.Allah تعالى said: ”That they may witness  things that are of benefit to them (i.e. reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade), and mention the name  of Allah on appointed days (i.e. 1oth,11th,12th and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah) ,over the beast  of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice). (Surah al-Hajj:28). Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما said: ”The appointed days are the days of Arafah (9th),an-Nahr (10th) and  the days of Tashreeq (11th, 12th, 13th).

8.Whoever wishes to slaughter in these days it is not allowed to cut or remove any hair from his body or his nails, but this does not apply to his family, only the head of the family who is doing the slaughtering.

9. The ruling regards to slaughtering:

a. An individual who slaughters from his own wealth on behalf of himself and his family –  It is not permissible for this individual to shave any hair from his body, remove any part of his skin or cut his nails.

b. An individual who slaughters from his own wealth for others e.g. he  wishes to slaughter for his father or his mother – He too must not cut his hair, take from his skin or cut his nails.

c. Anybody who wishes to slaughter with someone else’s wealth, for somebody else.e.g. He has been entrusted by someone else to slaughter cattle for him – This individual is  allowed to cut his hair, nails and skin etc.

10. Eid Al-Adha is four days in total: the tenth (the day of Eid prayer) and  the days of tashreeq (the eleventh, twelve and thirteenth days of Dhul-Hijjah). It is impermissible to fast in these days for those not performing the Hajj. The Messenger of Allahصلى الله عليه و سلم  said: ”The days of Tashreeq are days for eating, drinking and remembering  Allah عز و جل (narrated by Abi al-Maleeh رضي الله عنه,reported in Sahih Al-Muslim).Allah سبحان و تعالي said:”And remember Allah during the appointed Days.”(Surah Al-Baqarah:203)

Cold-hearted Silent Devil! | Ibn al-Qayyim | Translated by Ustadh Mustafa George حفظه الله

Imām Ibn al-Qayyim (raimahullāh) stated:

“What religion and what good is in a person who witnesses Allāh’s prohibitions being violated, His limits being neglected, His religion abandoned, and the Sunnah of His Messenger deserted, while he remains cold-hearted and silent; a mute devil. Just as the person who utters falsehood is a speaking devil!

The Manner of Offering Salat-ul-Kusuf - Fatwas of Ibn Baz

Q: How should Salat-ul-Kusuf (Prayer at the time of a solar eclipse) and Salat-ul-Khusuf (Prayer on a lunar eclipse) be performed? Is there any difference between them? What is the opinion on the reports published by the papers about the solar timings of a solar or lunar eclipse?

A: There are authentic Hadiths in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) showed how Salat-ul-Khusuf can be performed. He (peace be upon him) ordered that people should be called to it by announcing As-salatu Jami’ah “Gather for Prayer”.

The most authentic reports concerning this Salah show that it consists of two Rak’ahs (units of prayer), and in each Rak’ah one should make two recitations and perform two Ruku’s (bowings) and two Sujuds (prostrations). The person should make lengthy recitation, Ruku’ and Sujud. In the meantime, the first recitation and Ruku’ should be longer than the second ones. The person should make Ruku’ in the second Rak’ah for a shorter time than the two Ruku’s in the first one. During the second Rak’ah, the person should make the second  recitation and Ruku’ for a shorter time than the first in the same Rak’ah.

As for the two Sujuds, it is a Sunnah (action following the teachings of the Prophet) to be lengthy provided that this does not cause any difficulty to the Ma’mums (people being led by an Imam in Prayer) because this was the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) way. Upon completing the Salah, the Imam (the one who leads congregational Prayer), if he is knowledgeable, is allowed to deliver a  sermon and tell the people that the solar and lunar eclipses are two signs of Allah (Exalted be He) by which He frightens  His  Servants. The Muslims, upon seeing it, are prescribed to offer Salah, remember Allah (Exalted be He), make Du’a  (supplication) and  Takbir (saying: ”Allahu Akbar [Allah is the Greatest]”), give in charity, and emancipate a believing  slave until the end of the eclipse. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: <<Verily the sun and the moon are two signs among the signs  of Allah  by which He frightens His Servants and they do not eclipse on account of the death or birth of anybody. So  when you see either of them, observe Prayer, and supplicate to Allah (Exalted be He) till it is cleared from you. >> Another narration reads:  <<So whenever you see them, haste to remember Allah, invoke Him and ask Him for forgiveness.>>

It is narrated in some Hadiths that the person should give in charity and emancipates slaves. The astronomical reports about the timing of the eclipse must not be taken as a the basis for offering Salat-ul-Kusuf. Some people of knowledge, including Shaykh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and his knowledgeable  disciple Ibn Al-Qayyim  (may Allah be merciful to both of them) supported this view saying that the astronomers may sometimes be wrong; thus, these reports can not  be reliable, and people should not offer Salat-ul-Kusuf depending on them. Rather, they have  to offer the Salah upon seeing the eclipse  when it is happening.

The publications of the astronomers’ reports about the timing of eclipse should be banned by the Ministry  of Information, lest some  people should be deceived by them. These publications may make people less frightened upon seeing the eclipse. Allah (Exalted be He) has made them to frighten the people. Therefore, they remember, fear, invoke Allah, and treat His Slaves  properly. May Allah grant us success.

Shaikh Saleh al-Fowzan:It is mandatory to investigate the teacher!

بـسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaykh Saleh al-Fowzan (حفظه الله تعالى) stated:

The individuals who ascribe themselves to (giving) da’wah, it is mandatory that they be investigated:

 Where did they study?
Where did they take knowledge from?
 Where were they reared?
 What are their beliefs?

Their action must be investigated, their effects upon the people, along with what good they have brought about.

What rectification has their actions produced?

Their affairs must be investigated before (the people) are misled by their statements and what is apparent from themThis investigation is mandatoryespecially during the present time in which the callers to fitnah are many.

Don't Rely On Intellect Alone!!!

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:

“A man can be from the most intelligent of people and among the sharpest of them as far as how he perceives affairs and it will make him blind of the most clearest of things and also you can have a man who is the most slow of people and the weakest of them of how he perceives and sees matters and Allah will guide him to what was differed in of the truth. There isn’t any might or strength except with Allah. So whoever relies on his in intelligence and his usage of certain things as evidence (without relying and asking Allah to give him insight) or relies on his intellect or his knowledge of his mind he will be let down for that reason the Prophet in an authentic text, would say,”Oh turner of hearts, keep our hearts firm upon your religion.”
