Correcting ones intention and having patience while fasting

Sh. Fawzān:

Fasting is beloved to Allāh, therefore it’s incumbent upon the fasting person to correct his intention for Allāh, and to make his intention to draw near to Allāh and to remain patient upon the hardship that one experiences when fasting, because it (i.e the hardship) is for the sake of obedience to Allāh. So upon one is to make their intention pure and upon one is to have patience.

Allah has placed the scholars as the religious leaders of this Ummah

 

The Scholars (Ulamah) are the religious leaders who provide direction (for the people). Meaning: they direct the people with the Book (Qur’an) and Sunnah. They nurture them upon the pure religion and pure Sunnah. Upon the pure religion which is not polluted with shirk, and upon the pure Sunnah which is not polluted by innovation.

Ibn Qayyim on women and men free mixing

Ibn Qayyim رحمه الله said: and no doubt, allowing the women to mix with men is the origin of every tribulation and evil, and it is from the greatest reasons of the descending of general punishments, just as it is from the means of corruption of the public and specific affairs. And men mixing with women is a reason for the abundance of Fawaahish (immorality) and fornication. It is also a reason for widespread death and continuous plagues. And when the prostitutes mixed with the army of Musa and immorality spread amongst them, Allah sent upon them a plague and 70,000 people died in one day.

Shaykh Abdullah al Bukharee May Allah preserve him was asked about shaking the hand of the innovator. He answered by saying: it was mentioned in Siyar that Thawr came to Imam al Awzaa’ee wanting to shake his hand and Awzaa’ee refused. He said “O Thawr if it was a matter regarding the worldly life then closeness it will be, but the matter is of Deen!”

Hadith Qudsi: "The odor that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better with Allāh than the scent of Misk"

Sh. Fawzān: And the Khulūf  of the mouth of the fasting person is the odor that comes from his mouth during the day while fasting, because his stomach is without food, so an odor arises that is disliked by the people. However this smell is beloved by Allāh, and with Him it is better than the smell of Misk (good fragrance), because it stems from one obeying Him and it’s from the remnants of His worship. So Allāh loves it, and with Him it’s considered good, even if it’s disliked by the noses of the people.

You were not able to make Hajj this year?

Ibn Rajab رحمه الله said:

“Whoever is not able to stop upon Arafah……then stop at the limits of Allah which He set.

And whoever is not able to spend the night at Muzdalifah……..then spend the night upon the obedience of Allah to come close to Him and get near to Him.

And whoever is not able to slaughter an animal on Minaa……then let him slaughter his desires so by it he can reach his objective.

And whoever is not able to reach the Ka’bah because it is far…..then proceed towards the Lord of the Ka’bah for verily He is closer to you than your jugular vein.
