Random Quote of the Day

Shaykh Fawzān حفظه الله said:

The trials are like flood; nothing saves one from them except holding fast to the Sunnah and it is not possible for you to hold fast to the Sunnah unless you have knowledge of it.

The Sharee’ah is the guide by way of which the servants are guided to the truth.

"The Sharee’ah is the guide by way of which the servants are guided to the truth. Their nobility is established in accordance with how much they embrace its rulings – through acting upon them in speech, belief and deeds – and not merely due to the level of their intellects or their nobility amongst their people.”

Saudi King Abdul Azeez (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said:

O Muslims! It is obligatory that we hold onto the Rope of Allaah (i.e. the Qur’aan), follow the Sunnah of Allaah’s Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), follow the guidance of the Messenger, act on Allaah’s orders and keep away from what Allaah has forbidden. Indeed, every speech that is not followed by action is false. There can be no rectification for the Muslims except through their unity in singling out their Lord in (His Lordship, Names and Attributes and worshipping Him alone and associate none to Him as a partner in Worship). [And with regards to] every differing that leads to splitting and division, the Religion commands us to hold onto Allaah’s Sharee’ah, enjoin one another with the truth and patience, just as Allaah (The Most High) commanded us in the Qur’aan. We should be truly acquainted with our Lord and seek His Aid and Assistance. We do not fear except the (consequences of) our sins and it is obligated on the Muslims to follow Allaah’s Religion and obey all that Allaah has ordered - practically. In this is the (means of) rectifying their worldly affairs and the upright establishment of all their (other) affairs.

And for Allah is the highest description. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (وَلِلَّهِ الْمَثَلُ الْأَعْلَىٰ ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ) Qur'an: 16:60

Say (O Muhammad): O Allaah! Possessor of the kingdom, You give the kingdom to whom You will, and You take the kingdom from whom You will, and You endue with honour whom You will, and You humiliate whom You will. In your Hand is the good. Verily, You are Able to do all things.

[Soorah Aali ‘Imraan ayah 26]

A man stood and said:

O Messenger of Allaah, indeed my praise of others will make them praiseworthy and beautified, and my dispraise of others will degrade and blemish. The Prophet replied:

That is for Allaah the Mighty and Majestic (Who is worthy of this description).

The way to avoid the different forms of trial is adhering to Allah's Book and the Sunnah of the Prophet

63. Make not the calling of the Messenger  (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) among you as your calling one of another. Allāh knows those of you who slip away under shelter (of some excuse without taking the permission to leave, from the Messenger And let those who oppose the Messenger’s (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) commandment (i.e. his Sunnah – legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements) (among the sects) beware, lest some Fitnah (disbelief, trials, afflictions, earthquakes, killing, overpowered by a tyrant) should befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them.

64. Certainly, to Allāh belongs all that is in the heaven and the earth. Surely, He knows your condition and (He knows) the Day when they will be brought back to Him, then He will inform them of what they did. And Allāh is All-Knower of everything.

Observing the Sunnah and the Manners of its Obedience

One day the Messenger of Allāh delivered us a very eloquent Khutbah on account  of which eyes shed tears and hearts were full of tears. A man said: O Prophet of Allāh, this is as if it were a parting advice. So advice us. He said, I admonish you to fear Allāh , to listen  and obey even if an Abyssinian slave is appointed as your leader. Because  whoever among you shall live after me, will see much discord. So hold fast  to my Sunnah  and the examples of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs who will come after me. Adhere to them and hold to it fast. Beware of new things (in Deen) because every Bidah is a misguidance. [Abū Dāwūd and At-Tirmidhī]

Commentary: This Hadīth stresses piety, obedience to the leader, following in the footsteps of the Prophet and the first four noble caliphs. It strictly forbids innovation in Deen.

This Hadīth also reveals the prediction of the Prophet that the Muslim Ummah will become a victim of dissension. He also prescribed the right means to counteract it. The remedy that he has proposed for this problem is that Muslims should never deviate from the path laid for them by him and his righteous successors. This is the touchtone for discovering the truth from the mess of different views. All the troubles of Muslims world would come to an end if they accept this as the one singular criterion of right and wrong.

Advice from Shaykh ‘Abd al-Muḥsin al-‘Abbād حفظه الله Regarding Conflict in Palestine

Advice from Shaykh ‘Abd al-Musin al-Abbād حفظه الله Regarding Conflict in Palestine

Question:

You are aware what Palestine is being subjected to in terms  of killing, seizing  [of their land], and destruction by way  of the disbelievers, the enemies of Allāh. Could you offer  some advice about these events, and what is our responsibility as students of knowledge, especially since people look  to individuals like you  (scholars) to know what is mandatory upon them, and to clarify  that scholars like you are ignorant  of the conditions of the Ummah? What is the responsibility of students of knowledge regarding their brothers in Palestine? Is it permissible for Muslims to perform Qunūt during prayer, supplicating against the Jews, and are these events considered from trials (fitnah) of this time?

Answer:

There is no doubt that this is from the trials and calamities that has befallen the Muslims; dominance of their enemies over them and infliction of various harms upon them. The Muslim must pray  for his Muslims  brothers, [asking] Allāh  to lift their calamity, suppress and defeat their enemy, and save them from the oppression and distress  they are experiencing. One should  also ask that Allāh, the Mighty and High, grants safety  and well-being to his Muslim brothers, and that He  brings His punishment upon their enemies who have oppressed and invaded them.

Without a doubt, one of the greatest means of protection from enemies is adherence to obedience to Allāh and His command, and implementing His legislation, as this is the reason for all goodness. Additionally, what is occurring among Muslims in this time of disunity, discord, and deviation from the path of truth and guidance is (also) the reason for the calamities and harm they are experiencing. Allāh, the Most High, says:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ

(Indeed, Allāh will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves) Sūrah ar-Ra’d: 11

Similarly, sin and transgression are the cause  of every affliction.

We ask Allāh, the Mighty and High, to guide all Muslims to return to the Book of their Lord and the Sunnah of their Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , and to remain steadfast  in obedience to Allāh and obedience to His Messenger صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. We also ask Him, the Glorified and High, to defeat  their enemies and to inflict His punishment on them, which cannot be averted by the evildoers.

[Lastly] Supplicating during prayer (Qunūt) for Muslims in times of calamities and tribulations is obligatory, and one should ask Allāh, the  Mighty, to save them from what they are being afflicted with, but after the ruler [of the Muslim country] grants them permission to do so.1

1Translator’s note:

1. It is understood from the Shaykh’s statement in the last part  of this answer , that Muslims residing in the non-Muslim countries are not in need of seeking permission from a ruler, hence, they are free to perform Qunūt in their masjids during times of calamity.

2. This answer was recorded over 20 years ago while the Shaykh was teaching in the Prophet’s masjid in al-Madīnah, but it is as if it was answered recently. This is a clear  indication and reminder that nothing has changed regarding the affairs  of the Muslims in Palestine, in spite of years of marching and protesting.  If only the Muslims around the world would carefully  reflect and take heed to the advice of the scholars of Islām, which is to return to the correct practice of Islām, adherence to the orders of Allāh , and implementation  of the authentic Sunnah of His Messenger  as was practiced by the Salaf as-āli. Until that occurs, the Muslims will continue to experience oppression at the hands of our enemies! May Allāh guide us all and grant us protection and safety.

In the Name of Allāh. I put my trust in Allāh. There is no movement or power except by Allāh.

It will be said to this person: This is sufficient for you. You have been guided, sufficed, and protected. Then the shayān will leave him and say to another shayān: How can you approach someone who has been guided, sufficed, and protected?!12

Shaykh ‘Abd al-Razzāq al-‘Abbād afidahullāh stated:

This is a blessed statement of remembrance that is beneficial for the Muslim to say whenever he leaves his home to conduct a worldly or religious matter. He does so that he is protected while he is outed, assisted while he is completing his tasks, and successful in what he intends to accomplish. The servant cannot subsist without his Lord, even the blink of an eye.

He is his protector, his assistor, the One to grant success and the One who guides. The servant cannot obtain  these (guidance, protection, support, etc.) except that he turns to his Lord, the Mighty and High, and seeks what he desires. For this reason, the Prophet allallāhu alayhi wa sallam advised the person who leaves his home to say this blessed supplication in order that he may guided on his path and so that his needs and wants are fulfilled, in addition to him being protected from harm and dangers.13

The Power, Sovereignity & Dominion is for Allah Only. The One, the Irresistible!

In the aīh it says:

Allāh, may He be exalted, will fold up the heavens in His Right Hand, and will take the earths in His other Hand, then He will say: “I am the Sovereign, I am the judge. Where are the kings of the earth? Where are the tyrants? Where are the arrogants?1

What you Sow is What you Reap

Ibn Mas’ūd

“Indeed you are within the passing  of the night  & day, in limited lifespans, and preserved actions (all your deeds recorded), and death comes suddenly ; so whomsoever sows  (the seeds of) goodness will  soon reap his desire (reward of Afterlife), and whomsoever sows  (the seeds of) evil  will soon reap regret (punishment in Afterlife), and every  cultivator will have what he cultivates…”

Allah سبحانه و تعالى knows those who truly believe and He is Best Aware of what the hypocrites conceal.

9. And for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allāh and the other articles of Faith) and do righteous good deeds, surely, We shall make them enter with  (in the entrance of) the righteous  (in Paradise).

10. Of mankind are some who say: “We believe in Allāh.” But if they are made to suffer for the sake of Allāh , they consider the trial of mankind as Allāh’s punishment; and if victory comes from your Lord, (the hypocrites) will say: “Verily, we were with you (helping you).” Is not Allāh Best Aware of what is in the breasts of the Ālamīn (mankind and jinn).

11. Verily, Allāh knows those who believe, and verily, He knows the hypocrites [i.e. Allāh will test the people with good and hard days to discriminate the good from the wicked, although Allāh knows all that before putting them to test].

12. And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: “Follow our way and we will verily bear your sins.” Never will they bear anything of their sins. Surely, they are liars.

13. And verily, they shall bear their own loads, and other loads besides their own; and verily, they shall be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about that which they used to fabricate.

Police brutality is a grave offense in Islam and it is considered to be a major sin

...

In one adīth, the Prophet

“There are two types of people from the dwellers of Hell that I have not yet seen: Men with whips  like the tails of cattle with which they strike the people…*

The renowned scholar, Shaykh Muammad b. āli Uthaymīn  (d. 1421/2001) commented on this adīth saying:

“[These are] the oppressive police officers who beat the people without justification. They are from the dwellers of Hell because whoever aids an oppressor shall receive a portion of their sin that he deserves.”*
