Importance of Correctly Reciting Sūrah al-Fātiḥah

 

Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah [d. 728] رحمه الله said:

“In the Fātiḥah there are  11 tashdīdahs )letters with  ـّ  ّ), in the  Basmalah there are 3. Leaving off even one of these (not pronouncing it with a shaddah) will invalidate  the prayer according to  many of our  companions, the way it would if a letter was to be left off. Because the mushaddad letter is made up of two letters, one has a sukoon and the other a vowel.”

Saying Bismillah before pouring hot water

Answered by: Shaykh Zaid Al Madkhali

Question: Is it authentic, that it is correct for us to say, Bismillah (In the Name of Allah) when pouring hot water in the sewage in order that we don’t burn the Jinn in the sewage?

Shaykh Zaid Al Madkhali:

Answer: At any rate; don’t pour hot water, don’t pour it in the sewage nor on the earth, don’t pour hot water. Because the earth is filled with inhabitants, so it is possible that it could fall upon the race of the Jinn or upon their young ones causing some of them to take revenge, consequently possessing the person. For this reason if someone wants to pour hot water let him cool it down with (cool) water until it becomes cold and is no longer harmful, then pour it in the sewage or somewhere else.

Praying Nawafil (Voluntary or Optional) Prayers at home is more virtuous

 

Imām Ibn ‘Uthaymeen: “It is befitting upon the person to make all his optional prayers in his home, be it ar-Rawaatib or salat ad-Duha or at-Tahajjud or other than them. Even in Makkah & Madeenah, it is more virtuous to pray the optional prayers in the home.

Shaykh Muhammad bin Sālih al Uthaymeenرحمه الله  mentions regarding fasting:

Fasting was obligated from the second year after the Hijrah (the migration from Makkah to Al-Madīnah). So the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم fasted nine years in total.

Why is there Still Evil in Ramadan if Shaytān is Chained?

Al-Qurtubī said:

If it is said: How is it that we see an abundance of evil and sins occurring in Ramadan; if the devils were chained up this would not occur?

The Response: They are only chained away from those who fast (correctly) fulfilling the conditions of the Fast and being mindful of its etiquette.

Or it is said that those who are chained are some of the devils; i.e., the rebellious ones, and not all of them, as has been previously mentioned within some of the other narrations.

Or, it is said that what is intended is that evil is minimized in (Ramadan); and this is something well-known. For the occurrence of that (evil/sins) is less within it than it is in other months.

Hence, them all being chained up does not necessitate that evil or sins will not occur. For there are other reasons besides the devils which cause this; such as despicable souls and evil ways, as well as human devils.
