Imām Al-Ājurrī said over 1000 years ago:

The most important asset of the believer is his religion; he goes wherever it goes; he neither leaves it behind nor entrusts it to men. And know, Allāh have mercy on you, that we are in a time of many trials from many angles if a person does not have knowledge to escape every fitnah that faces him, he will be destroyed.

The Tyranny Of The Rulers Is Not A Reason For Rebellion

---

Hasan al-Basrī  (died 110H) was a great scholar of the first Islamic century and there is no dispute regarding his credentials and immense knowledge.

Ibn Saʿd  relates: A group of Muslims came to al-Hasan al-Basrī seeking a verdict to rebel against al-Hajjāj [13] (a tyrannical and despotic general). So they said, O Abu Saʿīd! What do you say about fighting this oppressor who has unlawfully spilt blood and unlawfully taken wealth and has done this and done that? So al-Hasan said, I hold that he should not be fought. If this is a punishment from Allāh, then you will not be able to remove it with your swords. If this is a trial from Allāh, then be patient until Allāhs judgement comes, and He is the best of judges. So they left al-Hasan, disagreed with him and rebelled against al-Hajjāj – so al-Hajjāj killed them all. Al-Hasan used to say, If the people had patience when they are being tested by their unjust ruler, it will not be long before Allāh will give them a way out. However, they always rush for their swords, so they are left with their swords. By Allāh! Not even for a single day did they bring about any good. [14]

-------------------

[13] Hajjāj bin Yūsuf was responsible for widespread oppression and killing towards the end of the time of the Companions. He besieged Makkah and bombarded the Kaʿbah. He killed the Companion ʿAbdullāh bin Zubair and crucified him in Makkah. See as-Siyar of Adh-Dhahabī.

The Complaint of the Ignorant Person by Ibnul-Qayyim

THE COMPLAINT OF THE IGNORANT PERSON

[From al-Fawaa·id (p. 114) of Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim –rahimahullaah]

The ignorant person complains about  Allaah to the people, and this is the limit of ignorance of the One complained about and the one complained to; for if he had known his Lord he would not have complained concerning Himand if knew the people he would not complain to them.

One of the Salaf saw a man complaining to another man about his poverty and need, so  he said: O person! By Allaah! You have not done anything more than complain about One Who is Merciful to you, to one who is not merciful to you.

In that regard it has been said:

If you make a complaint to the son of Aadam, then you are only

complaining about the Merciful One to someone who is not merciful.

And the one who is truly aware complains to Allaah alone;  and the one who is the most aware, from those who are truly aware, is the one who makes his complaints to Allaah about himself, not about the people; so he is therefore complaining about the reasons which cause the people to overwhelm  him. So he is looking to His Saying –He the Most High:

وَمَا أَصَابَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٍ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ ۞

[Sooratush-Shooraa (42):30]

[[Meaning: And whatever misfortune befalls you, then it is because of the sins that your hands have committed.]]

And His Saying:

[Sooratun-Nisaa · (4):79]

[[Meaning: Whatever good reaches you, is from Allaah; but whatever evil befalls you, then it is on account of yourself.]]

And His Saying:

[Soorah Aal 'Imraan (3): 165]

[[Meaning: Why is it that when a single disaster struck you, even though you had struck the  enemy with one twice as great, you said: From where is this? Say: It is on account of  yourselves.]]

So the levels are three: the lowest/most despicable of them is that you complain about Allaah to His creation; and the highest of them is that you complain about yourself to Him; and the middle one is that you complain about His creation to Him.

Upon the authority of Ibn Mas’ood – Radhiyallahu Anhu – from the messenger who said: When it was the night that I went upon the night journey I met Ibraaheem in the seventh heaven- who said to me: Oh Muhammad! Convey my salaams to your Ummah and inform them that the soil of Jannah is good and its water is sweet and fresh and it is Qeeaan (i.e. a beautiful open plain, perfect for cultivating) and that it is cultivated with: SubhaanallahandAl Hamdullillah and Laa illaaha illallah and Laa Haula Wa Laa Quwwata Ilaa Billah

A Dangerous Affair - Cutting The Ties Of Kinship

Allâh (Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections) said:

فَهَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ إِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ أَن تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَتُقَطِّعُوا أَرْحَامَكُمْ (22

أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ فَأَصَمَّهُمْ وَأَعْمَىٰ أَبْصَارَهُمْ (23)

Would you then, if you were given the authority, do mischief in the land, and sever your ties of kinship? Such are they whom Allâh has cursed, so that He has made them deaf and blinded their sight. [Surah Muhammad 47:22-23]

Narrated Jubair bin Mut’im رضي الله عنه that he heard the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم saying, [القاطع ] Al-Qâti’ (the person who severs the bond of kinship) will not enter Paradise.

The Complete Happiness of a Person Is Founded On Two Affairs

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said: The complete happiness of a slave is founded upon two affairs:

[1] The strength of a slave’s [a believer’s] desire for perfect knowledge and [sincere] intention: The strength of his desire for perfect knowledge can only be achieved when he truly knows the following [five] matters: 1. When a person  truly knows The One [i.e. Allaah] who brought the creation into existence after it was non-existent; created everything and bestowed all blessings to the creation. 2.When a person truly knows the true meanings of Allaah’s Names and Attributes. 3.When a person truly knows the correct path leading to Allaah’s [pleasure] and its end results. 4.When a person truly knows himself [or herself]. 5.When a person truly knows the weaknesses and defects of his [or her] soul.  These [five] affairs bring about perfection in one’s knowledge and the desire for it. The people with the most knowledge and understanding are those with the most knowledge and understanding regarding these five affairs.

[2] The strength of the slave’s desire to perfect his [or her] actions: The strength of the slave’s desire to perfect his [or her] deeds cannot be achieved except by way of fulfilling the commandments of Allaah- performing them sincerely, truthfully and purely for Allaah’s sake; acknowledges Allaah’s blessings; bears witness to Allaah’s blessings and bears witness to one’s shortcomings whilst seeking to fulfil Allaah’s commandments.

The person should know that he [or she] cannot achieve perfection in knowledge and action without the Aid and Assistance of Allaah because one is compelled in his [or her] need for guidance to the straight path- the path to which the Creator [Allaah] has guided His Awliyaa. The slave should ask Allaah for protection against leaving this path, [which may occur] either by way of corruption in one’s knowledge- leading to misguidance, or by way of corruption in his deeds- leading one to earn the Anger of his Lord.  These two affairs have been gathered in Soorah Al-Faatihah.

How to deal with the Disobedient Elderly Person || Shaykh Abdur-Razzaq al-Badr

How to Deal With the Elderly Person Who Does Not Pray or Commits Acts of Disobedience

Question to Shaykh Abdur-Razzaaq Al-Badr:

“How is the elderly person dealt with, if he does not establish the prayer or if he commits some of the (acts) of disobedience?

Answer:

We know from what has preceded (i.e. in the lecture) that the elderly person has rights due to his old age; the rights of the elderly, even if he is not a Muslim, then how about the one who abandons the prayer completely?

This (person) is a disbeliever due to the saying of the Messenger (‘alayhi salat wasallam): “the covenant between us and them is the prayer, so whoever abandons it has disbelieved. “And the ahaadeeth regarding this affair are many.

*[Note: Listener/Reader: The scholars differ with regards to the affair of the person who abandons the Salaah out of laziness, as to whether he is a disbeliever or not; so refer to the different arguments of the scholars on the topic. See the arguments of Shaikh Uthaymeen, Shaykh Bin Baaz, Shaykh Al-Albaanee (rahimahumullaah)]

However, regardless of this (i.e. this elder’s abandonment of the prayer), the rights of the elderly remain; so he is shown kindness and is dealt with in accordance with what such rights necessitates, in winning over his heart, and with the hope that Allaah (Taabaraka Wata-Aalaa) will guide him and return him to correctness, especially  if he is a father or a near relative, then a person should deal with him  in the worldly life with goodness and kindness. In this also is winning over his heart, and perhaps Allaah (Subhaanahu wa ta’ala) will grant him guidance and success.

And we did come across (i.e. in the lecture) the saying of Allaah: “But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then  obey them not, but behave with them in the world kindly.” [Luqmaan: Ayah: 15].

He (Allaah) did not say: disrespect both of them, or cut off the relationship (between you and them), rather He said: “but behave with them in the world kindly.” So, (you) behave kindly even if he is a disbeliever or polytheist; and even if he is caller to polytheism and disbelief, the father is (still) treated with kindness, also the mother and the close relative; so that this kindness becomes a means to winning over his heart and to draw it close to the truth and goodness.

And if he is from the sinful believers, then also he is to be dealt with in a good way and at the same time give him advise with etiquettes, without raising oneself above him, arrogance or what is similar to that; rather you you advise him with etiquettes, gentleness and wise mannerisms, and perhaps Allaah (Tabaaraka-Wata-Aalaa) will bless him with  guidance and bestow him steadfastness.

If this is the punishment of one who prayed (intentionally) without purification, what would be the state of the one who does not even pray or misses some prayers deliberately.....

The Messenger of Allaah () said:

“It was ordered that a slave from the slaves of Allaah is whipped in his grave one hundred lashes; so he kept begging and supplicating until they were reduced to one lash; so he was whipped one lash, and his grave became filled with fire all over him. When (the punishment) was lifted and he awoke he said:

“What did you whip me for?”

They (angels) replied:

“Indeed you prayed one prayer without purification, and you passed by someone who was oppressed and did not help him.”

Loving to Look at Impermissible Pictures is Shirk of Desire Explained by Shaykh Fawzan | Masjid Tawheed wa Sunnah

Loving to Look at Impermissible Pictures is Shirk of Desire

Explained by Shaykh Fawzan

Question: Noble Shaykh, may Allah grant you success. Is loving to look at impermissible pictures which appear on the cell phones and internet, and always desiring this; considering as Shirk, in which the person is a slave to these pictures?

Shaykh Fawzan: Yes. It is Shirk of desire. It is Shirk of desire because he craves these pictures, thus they take hold of his heart, consequently he pursues them. This is a type of minor Shirk.

Question: The follow up question, may Allah preserve you, what is your advice with regards to a successful remedy for the individual who has been tested with this?

Shaykh Fawzan: To stay far away from looking at these pictures, wherever they may be. Stay far away from looking at them.

Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things)(Soorah An-Nūr 24:30)

Therefore, he lowers his gaze and he does not look at these things.

Verily, the hearing, and the sight, and the heart, of each of those you will be questioned. (Soorah Al-‘Isrā’ 17:36)

You will be questioned about your sight (what you looked at) and your hearing and your heart.

Contentment & Serenity Allah places in the Hearts...Sh.'Uthaymīn

@AbuMuadhTaqweem

5 May 2019 // 1:05 PM GMT

What makes a poor person rich, & a rich person poor?

From the blessings of Allah upon the servant is that he gives him contentment (fulfillment & serenity, being in a state of peace) whether it be with his home, or his clothes, or his (riding animal) vehicle, or his offspring…but if that contentment is stripped from his heart then he is poor.

(Sh.’Uthaymīn Explanation of Bulūgh ul-Marām: (5/272)

Note: A poor person in poverty with very little to show for himself in terms of possessions may be richer than the wealthiest of people due to Allah making him content and at ease with whatever little he has been given…& the richest of people may be in poverty due to that contentment being stripped from his heart.
