Indeed, the effect (or fruitful outcome) is great indeed

Whoever works righteousness  - whether male or female  - while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islāmic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life  (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter).

Prepare for death and what is to come after it! - by Shaykh Saaleh al-Fawzaan (may Allah preserve him)

-----

The Muslim is like a stranger in this worldly life: The stranger is one residing in a country other than his country. The worldly life is not the Muslim’s permanent place of residence; rather the Muslim’s permanent place of residence is paradise. He is in this worldly life to work for entry into Paradise. He takes what is needed from this world to aid him work for entry into paradise.

The Muslim is like a traveler in this worldly life: The traveler takes rest during his journey and then carries on travelling. He does not reside permanently in that place he stopped to take a rest. In the life of this world the Muslim is that traveler. In reality he is not a permanent resident in the worldly life because his time in it is very little. His nights and days take him towards the afterlife.

What is befitting the Muslim with regards to the days, nights, and his health etc! If you reach the morning do not delay good deeds till in the evening because it maybe that you will not reach the evening. If you reach the evening do not delay good deeds till the morning because it maybe that you will not reach the morning. Do not delay repentance and righteous deeds till another time.

As long as a person is in a state of good health and wellbeing, he is able to perform fasting, the night prayer etc; but when he becomes sick he is not able to perform fasting, the night prayer etc. Therefore, as long as Allaah has given you good health, then hasten towards righteous actions because a time will come in which you will be unable to perform them-either due to illness, old age, or senility. Prepare for death and what is to come after it. Allaah gave you this life in order that you busy yourself with what will benefit you in the afterlife. So do not spend your life in play and jest.

Never think that you are independent and have no need to seek constant guidance and firmness from Allaah تعالى...

Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen  رحمه الله said:

“One should not rely upon himself  in (being upon) guidance, he should rather ask Allaah constantly that He guides him and keeps him firm (upon guidance) since it is Allaah (Alone) Who guides.

Therefore, do not be independent in seeking guidance for yourself, always ask Allaah for guidance  and for remaining steadfast upon it, and do not be deceived by what you have with you of eemaan (faith), for indeed a person’s amazement with his actions can lead to them becoming null and void.”

Shaykh Uthaymeen رحمه الله:

The eclipse is not a punishment; rather it is as the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Allah frightens His slaves with it”. Thus it is a threat of punishments and evil that will afflict them if they oppose His command and disobey Him.

Random Quote of the Day

Shuraiy Al-Qaadhiy (rahimahullaah) said:

Indeed [when] afflicted by a calamity, I praise Allaah four times: I praise Allaah for not making the calamity greater than what it is. I praise Allaah for granting me patience. I praise Allaah for the reward I hope for in that calamity and I praise Allaah for not placing that calamity in the affairs of my religion.

Calling someone a Shaheed (Martyr)

Calling someone a Shaheed (Martyr)

Question:

Is it allowed for us to bear witness for anyone who was killed fighting in the path of Allaah with the term: Shahaadah (martyrdom) and can we unrestrictedly apply for him the term so and so is Shaheed (a martyr) just as some of the people unrestrictedly apply it on some of the callers?

Answer:

The issue in this case is straight forward; since Al-Bukhaaree mentions in his Saheeh in the book of Jihaad: chapter: it is not to be said; so and so is a Shaheed, and then he mentions some hadeeth in that section. So from the Shaheed is the one who is Shaheed in that which is apparent, and from them is the Shaheed in that which is secret/hidden, whilst the people are not aware that he is Shaheed. So the Shaheed in that which is apparent when he is killed in battle may have died upon a bad intention, whilst the secret/hidden one may be killed and it not be known of him – or that it may not be presumed that he reached the level of Shaheed. Then there is the Shaheed who died from other than being killed as the Prophet (Sallaallaahu 'alaihi wa ‘alaa aalihi wa sallam) said:

The Shuhadaa (martyrs) are five: The one who dies in a plague, the one who dies of a stomach ailment, the one who drowns, the one who is crushed to death, and the martyr in the path of Allaah, and the hadeeth is found in the two saheehs of Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim. So if you said: so and so is a Shaheed in accordance with that which is apparent then there is nothing wrong with this Inshaa Allaah, and if you fear that he may not have been upon the Sunnah or that he may not have been sincere – since this is because the meaning of Shaheed is that you are ruling for him Paradise, and you would not want to make the ruling upon him of Paradise because ruling out who enters Paradise is not for us, so one does not make the ruling of Paradise for anyone except for one whom Allaah has ruled Paradise for, or Allaahs Messenger (Sallaallaahu 'alaihi wa ‘alaa aalihi wa sallam) has ruled Paradise for. As for us, then we hope for the doer of good with all good and with Paradise, and we fear for the wrongdoer with punishment and the hell fire.

“So-and-so is a martyr and so-and-so is a martyr.”

‘Umar bin Al-Khattâb رضي الله عنه reported:

On the day (of the battle) of Khaibar, some Companions of the Prophet came and remarked: “So-and-so is a martyr and so-and-so is a martyr.”When they came to a man about whom they said: “So-and-so is a martyr,” the Prophet declared, “No. I have seen him in Hell for a mantle (or cloak) which he has stolen.” [Muslim]

Commentary:

1. This Hadîth tells us that the rights of people will not be forgiven even by martyrdom.

2. Misappropriation in the national exchequer is a horrible sin.

Always mentions the name of Allah

Ibn ul-Qayyim رحمه الله تعالى mentioned a statement attributed to the Salaf in origin:

A Shaytan met another Shaytaan and said to him: “Why am I seeing you so thin & skinny?”

So he replied: “I am with a man who upon eating always mentions the name of Allah so I am unable to eat with him. When he drinks he mentions the name of Allah so I am unable to drink with him. When he enters his home he mentions the name of Allah so I (am unable to enter and instead I) have to sleep outside the house”.

So the first Shaytaan said: “I am with a man who upon eating never mentions the name of Allah so I eat with him. When he drinks he never mentions the name of Allah, so I drink with him. When he enters his home he never mentions the name of Allah so I enter with him. When he has intercourse with his wife he never mentions the name of Allah so I have intercourse with her too alongside him”.

عدة الصابرين ص٤٧

[Never  mentions the name of Allah upon intercourse  - i.e. does not say the prescribed the du’a mentioned in Saheeh Bukhary & Saheeh Muslim:

In the name of Allah, O’ Allah, keep the devil away from us and keep the devil away from  what you have blessed us with.*

The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said, Allah has appointed an angel in the womb, and the angel (i.e. of semen), O Lord! a clot, O Lord! a piece of flesh. And then, if Allah wishes to complete the childs creation, the angel will say. O Lord!  A male or a female? O Lord! wretched or blessed (in religion)? What will his livelihood be? What will his age be? The angel writes all this while the child is in the womb of its mother.

Who are the Khawaarij?

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him) said: The Khawaarij were not misguided and misguiding others with their intellects and fear of Allaah, except that they disassociated themselves from the scholars and depended on their own understanding and that of those similar to them. They took instructions from one another, and thus they caused harm to themselves and to the Ummah. This is the result of disassociating from the scholars.
