The Virtues of Giving in Charity: Its blessing and it being a means for an increase in sustenance

-----

Allaah, The Most High said:

Say; indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and limits [in measure] for him, and whatever thing you spend [in His cause] – He will replace it; and He is the Best of providers. (As-Saba: 39)

Shaikh Abdur-Rahmaan As-Sadee (rahimahullaah) said in his tafseer of this aayah: Whatever you spend from any expense which is obligatory or recommended; whether upon someone close or a neighbour or a destitute person or upon an orphan or other than that; then He, The Most High will follow it up (replace it). So do not be under the delusion that donating in expense is that which decreases the sustenance, rather it is a promise of having it followed up for the one who spends…

Allaah, The Most High said:

((Take Sadaqah [an obligatory charity] from their wealth by which you will purify them and cleanse them.)) (At-Tawbah: 103)

Shaikh ‘Abdur-Rahmaan As-Sa’dee (rahimahullaah) said:Meaning: it will purify them from sins and lowly mannerisms, and ‘cleanse them’ meaning: expand them and give an increase in their good mannerisms and their righteous actions and will give an increase in their reward in the life of this world as well as in the Hereafter and will expand their wealth.”[3]

A Cure for the Hardness of the Heart

A Cure for the Hardness of the Heart

The best of what has been advised with to cure the heart and the hardness of the heart is giving attention to the Noble Qur'aan, reflecting upon it, reading it often and remembering Allaah the Exalted and Glorious often.

Reading Qur'aan with reflection and remembering Allaah often, saying SubhaanAllaah walhamdulillah wa laa ilaaha illAllaah wAllaahu akbar, and SubhaanAllaahi wa bihamdihi SubhaanAllaahil Adheem, laa ilaaha illAllaah wahdahu laa shareeka lah lahulmulk walahul hamd yuhyee wa yumeet wa huwa 'alaa kulli shayin qadeer. All of these are reasons for the removal of the hardness of the heart.

“The first matter that the people will be called to account for on the Day of Judgement from their deeds will be the Prayer..."

The Prophet (salallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) said:

The first matter that the people will be called to account for on the Day of Judgement from their deeds will be the Prayer. Our Lord, the Exalted, will say to the angels, though He knows better: Look into the prayer of My servant and see whether he has offered it perfectly or deficiently. If it is perfect, it will be recorded as perfect. If it is deficient, He will say: See if there are some optional prayers offered by My servant. If he has optional prayers, Allah will say: Compensate the obligatory Prayers with the optional Prayers for My servant. Then all the actions will be accounted similarly.

Hidden Charity Extinguishes the Anger of the Lord

From Abu amzah al-Thumāli who said:

‘Alī bin al-usayn[1] used to carry bags of bread over his back during the night and would give it in charity. And he would say: Verily, hidden charity extinguishes the anger of the Lord, the Mighty and Majestic.[2]

This statement  about hidden charity is raised  (مرفوع) to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم which Shaykh al-Albānī authenticated on account of all of its routes of transmission, see text below. [3]

Importance of Correctly Reciting Sūrah al-Fātiḥah

Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah [d. 728] رحمه الله said:

In the Fātiah there are  11 tashdīdahs )letters with  ـّ  ّ)in the  Basmalah there are 3. Leaving off even one of these (not pronouncing it with a shaddah) will invalidate  the prayer according to  many of our  companions, the way it would if a letter was to be left off. Because the mushaddad letter is made up of two letters, one has a sukoon and the other a vowel.

TWO ATTRIBUTES OF THE PEOPLE OF HELL

“Then, for him who transgressed, and preferred the life of this world.”

(An-Nazi’āt: 37-38)

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn رحمه الله said:

“These are two attributes of the people of Hell. Transgressioni.e., overstepping the boundary – and preferring the worldly life than the hereafter by giving  it precedence over the hereafter. And they [i.e., these two attributes] are inseparable. Whoever transgresses has preferred the worldly life and vice versa.”

Sins Hinder The Sweetness of Worship

Yayá ibn Mu’ādh رحمه الله stated:

The sickness of the body results in pain  while  sickness of the heart  is a result of sins. Thus, just as the body  does not find enjoyment in eating whilst it is sick; similarly, the heart does not experience the sweetness of worship with sins.

Tawheed is The Best of Righteous Deeds

On the authority of Abu Dharr who said: ‘I said: O Messenger of Allaah advise me.’ The Messenger  -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said: ‘If you do a bad deed then follow it up with a good one  and it wipes it out.’ Abu Dharr continued: I said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah is La ilaha ‘illa Allaah from the good deeds?’ He answered: ‘It is the best of righteous deeds.’

There is nothing more beneficial for the Muslim than abiding by the orders (of Allaah), even if this initially brings about some difficulty. This is because its  (obedience to the orders of Allaah) outcomes are all good, happiness, delight and joy; even if the persons desires (originally) disliked adherence.
