Shaykh Muhammad bin Saaleh al-Uthaymeen (رحمه الله) stated in his explanation
of Imam an-Nawawi’s classic work, ‘Riyad us-Saaliheen’:
“ As for the one claiming that they are repentant to Allah, while they continually abandon the
obligations or persist upon what Allah forbade, then their repentance is not
accepted. Rather, this claim of repentance is as if they are mocking Allah (عز و جل). How do you repent to Allah while you remain upon disobedience to Him?!”
