From the sayings of the Salaf about Truthfulness and Sincerity

Ibn al-Qayyim :

The sincere person is fortified by Allaah due to his worship of Him Alone, intending his Face Alone. He has humility for Him Alone, and hope in Him Alone, requesting from Him Alone, submissiveness for Him Alone and has a dire need of Him Alone.

Jihad Against The Dunyah

In a supplication, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked Allaah, saying,  - اللهُّم لا تجعل الدُنيا أكبر همنا O Allaah! Do not make the Dunyah our greatest concern”. [Saheeh Sunan Tirmidhi 3502]

Al-Mubaarakfooree (rahimahullaah) stated that this means, ‘Do not make wealth and status our greatest goal or the reason  behind our grief, rather direct our greatest goal or the reason behind our grief towards the deeds of the afterlife’. [Tuhfah Al-Ahwadhee 9/475-477]

Whenever I Waver And Become Indecisive - By Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah)

WHENEVER I WAVER AND BECOME INDECISIVE

SHAYKHUL-ISLAAM IBN TAYMIYYAH RAHIMAHULLAH SAID:

Indeed whenever I waver and become indecisive in my mind about an issue, or about something or a situation [which is  problematic for me] then I seek forgiveness from Allaah the Most High, a thousand times or more ,or less until He opens my chest for me and solves the problem which I was confused about. Even  if at  that time I was in a market place, or in a masjid or in a mountain pass or a school, that does not prevent me from the remembrance [of Allaah] and asking for forgiveness until I achieve my objective.

The Excellence of ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allah’

The Excellence of ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allah’

There is None Worthy of Worship, in Truth, Except Allaah’

By Hafidh al-Hakami –Rahimahullaah-

Taken from his book ‘Ma’arij al-Qabool’

Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya

The words in the testification ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allah’ are words which are the path to the success of entry into Paradise and salvation from the fire.

Allaah- Azza wa jal- said: { And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful.} (Al-Imraan: 185)

It is the way and path to happiness in the two worlds which cannot be reached except by these words. It is with this statement that Allaah sent His Messengers and with it, He revealed His Books. The Dunya and the Hereafter, Paradise and Hell-Fire were created for this statement.

Happiness and wretchedness are directly related to this testification. Due to it, the records of deeds will be taken either to the right or the left and the scale will be either heavy or light. By it is being saved from the Fire after its advent whilst not adhering to ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allaah’ is remaining in the Fire.

Due to it, Allaah took the covenant, because of it is recompense and accountability and regarding it, will be the questioning on the Day of Meeting.

As Allah –Ta’ala- says: { So, by your Lord, We shall certainly call all of them to account. For all that they used to do. } (Al-Hijr: 92-93)

Allah –Ta’ala- said: { Then surely, We shall question those (people) to whom it (the Book) was sent and verily, We shall question the Messengers.} (A’raaf: 6)

As for Allaah – Ta’ala- questioning those to whom ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allaah’ was sent, on the Day of Judgement , then from that is His saying- { And (remember) the Day (Allaah) will call to them and say: ‘What answer gave you to the Messengers?} (Qasas: 65) along with the preceding, following and other Aayaat.

As for Allah questioning the Messengers then from that is the saying of Allah – Ta’ala- { On the Day when Allah will gather the Messengers together and say to them: ‘What was the response you received (from men to your teaching)? They will say: ‘We have no knowledge, verily, only You are the All-Knower of all that is hidden (or unseen, etc.} (al-Mai’dah: 109) and there are other similar Aayaat.

The riding beasts of Jannah! (Part 2)

 .....

Upon the authority of Sulaimaan ibn Buraidah from his father who said: That a man asked the Prophet – Sallallahu alaihi Was Salam – and said: “Are there horses in Jannah? So the Prophet - Sallallahu alaihi Was Salam – said: “If Allah enters you into Jannah then you not wish to be brought a Stallion made of red ruby that will fly with you wherever you wish, except that it will occur! So (another) man asked “Oh Messenger of Allah! Are there any Camels in Jannah? But he didnt respond to him with that which he said to his companion (ie the first questioner) He said: “If Allah enters you into Jannah then you will have whatever your soul desires and whatever delights your eye!”

How to attain a good life?

Allah, The Almighty said: Whoever works righteousness – whether male or female – while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islaamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter). Upon you is knowledge. For indeed seeking it is worship.Learning it for Allaah’s sake is a good deed...

What is a pure heart? (قلب سليم)

What is a pure heart?

It is a heart which is free of Shirk (polytheism) and free of doubts. It is a heart which is free of malice, rancorous envy, stinginess, and arrogance. It is a heart which does not love evil, and a heart which is content with the Sunnah and free of bid’ah (innovations in the religion).

The Importance of Purity of the Heart

Al-āfi Ibn Rajab [d. 795 AH] said:

So if his heart is pure, containing nought but the love of Allāh and love for that which is beloved to Allāh, [and he possesses] knowledgeable fear of Allāh and fear of falling into that which He detests, [he will find] himself engaging in righteous deeds only.
