Imam Ahmad reported that Hasan al Basri stated:
You do not find (a true believer) except that he
(constantly) brings himself to account. He says (to himself):
What deeds do I wish to perform (good or evil)?
What do I want to eat (halaal or haraam)?
What do I want to drink?
As for the sinner, he continues to walk step after step,
without bringing himself to account for his deeds.
Shaikh Saleh al Fowzan commented:
An individual not bringing himself to account indicates that
he has no faith, or that his faith is weak.
Lesson: Ighathatul Lahfaan 9th of Rabe’a al Thani
1435H.
