Random Quote of the Day

Angels were given intellect without desires. Men were given both intellect and desires. Cattles were given desires without intellect.

So the man whose intellect takes over his desires, is with the angels, and the man whose desires takes over his intellect is like the cattle!

Mentioned by Ibn ul-Qayyim, in “Uddat us-Saabireen (37)” from Qataadah, and in “Madaarij us-Saalikeen (2/352)” from one of the Salaf.

Likewise by Ibn Taymiyyah too, as mentioned in “Majmoo’ ul-Fataawaa (4/351)”. Read the arabic text for complete statement and more insight!

al-Haafidh an-Nawawee's speech on remembrance of Allah upon the heart and upon the tongue together.

9/9/13, 6:13 PM

Al-Hāfidh an-Nawawī (rahimahullāh) said1:

Remembering Allāh (dhikr) can be done by the heart and also by the tongue. The best of it is that which is done by both the heart and the tongue together. If it was to be confined to one of them, then the heart is the best. One should not abandon making the remembrance upon the tongue accompanied by the heart, for the fear of it being taken as show-off (riyā). Rather, he should make the remembrance by both of them (i.e. the heart and tongue) thereby seeking the Face of the Exalted Allāh…

Another verse which proves the two conditions of acceptance of worship 1) Sincerity/Tawhid 2) Following the Messenger

Yes, but whoever submits his face (himself) to Allah and he is a Muhsin then his reward is with his Lord (Allah), on such shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Al-Baqarah: 112)

Shaikh Salih bin Fawzan al-Fawzan commented on this verse saying;

The statement whoever submits his face (himself) to Allah means whoever is sincere to Allah in outwards and inwards. And the statement and he is a Muhsin means that he follows the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and no one other than the Messenger. He does not blind follow any other than the Messenger. Rather, his role model, his example is the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) in his worship. So he does not worship Allah with that which was brought by so and so. Or by that which a so and so Shaikh has brought or by the way of the so and so Soofee methodology or by ways similar to that.

Random Quote of the Day

“…and incline not towards the dwelling of deception”

Imaam al-Aajurry said: It (i.e. the poem) was recited to me by Aboo Bakr ʿAbdullaah bin Humayd al-Muʾaddib1:

“Oh the one who has become heedless in the shade of joy  and blessing.
Be a stranger and take this world as a way of transit and crossing.
Count yourself amongst the people of graves throughout all the time.
Reject this world and incline not towards the dwelling of deception."

A Great reminder regarding one's life and how he lives it ~ Mufti Aal ash-Shaykh

… Your life is a trust with you! It is a vessel for you to fill with good deeds. You are held responsible for this trust! Your life is only but days, months and years. What has gone by will not return. Every day that has passed, has indeed passed upon that which it has passed upon (from your actions), and the reward of it lies with Allah.

[…That He may requite those who do evil with that which they have done (i.e. punish them in Hell), and reward those who do good, with what is best (i.e. Paradise).]

(Surah an-Najm: 31)

O My Muslim Brother! You will be questioned  regarding your life; how you have lived it, regarding your youth; how you have passed it, regarding your wealth; how you have acquired it and how you have spent it, and regarding what you have acted upon with regards to the knowledge you acquired.

Can you eat a frog? A Golden Principle of Fiqh explained by Sh.Fawzaan

A Benefit from a Fatwaa of Shaikh Saalih  al-Fawzaan

Shaikh Saalih bin Fawzaan (hafidhahullaah) was asked  regarding the ruling of eating amphibians and frogs. Shaikh replied  saying that eating frogs is  prohibited and he also mentioned a golden principle which states that;

“Any living thing which the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi  wasallam) commanded to kill is prohibited to eat. And the same way, any living  thing which the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) prohibited to kill is also prohibited to eat.”

And the frog is an example of things which the Prophet  (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) prohibited to kill. Thus eating it is also prohibited.

Want to give the devil a seizure? Remember Allaah always and fill your heart with the light of eemaan!

Ibn Muflih al-Hanbalee said:

“The heart that is filled with faith is all light, which has heat, and when the devilish whisper draws close to it, it turns to ashes. It was said that when the remembrance of Allaah is firmly established in a person’s heart, when a devil draw close to it , he has a seizure like those experienced by humans when the Shaytaan gets close to them. Then the devils gather around him and say, “What is the matter with him?” and it is said, “The human over powered him”’’
