Whoever brings a good deed shall have ten times the like thereof to his credit

Abu Dharr narrated that the Messenger of Allāh said,

Whoever fasts three days every month, will have fasted all the time.

Amad, An-Nasā’ ī, and Ibn Majāh recorded this adīth, and this is Amad wording.

Having the correct Aqeeda

HAVING THE CORRECT AQEEDA

Shaykh AbdulAziz bin Baz -Rahmatullaahi alayhi- said:

الأعمال والأقوال إنما تصح وتقبل إذا صدرت عن عقيدة صحيحة، فإن كانت العقيدة غير صحيحة بطل ما يتفرع عنها

 من أعمال وأقوال

Deeds and statements are only correct and accepted by Allaah if they emanate from an Aqeeda Saheehah. If the Aqeeda is not correct, then what branches from that Aqeeda of deeds and statements are invalid.

“What has been Related Concerning the Prophet’s Haircare.” - The Fitnah of Selfie-Amazement

al-Tirmidhī pens the chapter: What has been Related Concerning the Prophet’s Haircare. In it he collects the narration of Abd Allāh b. Mughaffal (رَضِيَ اللهُ عنهُ) who said:

«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ التَّرَجُّلِ إِلَّا غِبًّا»

Allahs Messenger  prohibited the combing of the hair, unless it is done occasionally.3

Regarding the interpretation of this narration, al-Manāwī (رَحِمَهُ اللهُ) states: What is intended in  the prohibition is constant attention and focus upon it, because this is excessiveness in beautification.4

Humbleness & Humility

Abdullaah Bin Handhalah [rahimahullaah] said that Abdullaah Bin Salaam [radiyallaah-anhu] walked through the Market with a bundle of firewood; so it was said to him: Has Allaah not enriched you? He said: Certainly, but I wished to suppress pride.

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah]:

Just as the body is not benefited by food and drink when it is sick, likewise admonitions are not useful to the heart when it is sick with vain desires.

Following the Messenger is Upon Everyone

 ...

8 – Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah (d.728 A.H.) -Rahimullaah- said:

What is necessary to comprehend is that Allaah Subhanahu said in His Book: <<Say (O Muhammad): If you (really) love Allaah then follow me, Allaah will love you and forgive you of your sins.>> [Aal’Imraan:31]

A group from the Salaf said: there were a people at the time of the Messenger of Allaah –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- who claimed that they love Allaah, so Allaah revealed this Ayaah: <<Say (O Muhammad): If you (really) love Allaah then follow me, Allaah will love you and forgive you of your sins.>> [Aal’Imraan:31]

So Allaah explained that His love obligates following the Messenger –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- which in turn obligates the love of Allaah for His slave.  Allaah tested those who claim to love Allaah by this specific love, and indeed this issue has many claimants and those who are dubious in their love for Allaah.

Foundation of righteous communities is the wife –Shaykh Al-Fawzaan

Shaykh Al-Fawzaan admonishes in one of his sermons:

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ

And those who say:

“Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes,”

Soorah Al-Furqaan Verse 74

So they began their supplication with the wives (i.e. due to the importance of having righteous wives)

“If you do a bad deed then follow it up with a good deed and it will wipe it out.”

Then Abu Dharr said: I asked O Messenger of Allaah is ‘La illah ill Allaah from the good deeds?

The Prophet entered upon a young man while he was dying. So he said:

How do you feel? He said:

By Allaah, O Messenger of Allaah, indeed I hope in Allaahs (Mercy) and I fear from my sins.

The Vast Mercy of Allāh

((then surely, He is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.))

Imām Amad recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allāh said,

“When Allāh finished with the creation, He wrote in a Book that He has with Him above the Throne, ‘My mercy prevails over My anger’. [1]

This adīth was also recorded in the The Two aīs.[2]

In Tirmidhi, Nisaee and in Musnad on the authority of Abdullaah bin Amr bin al-Aas -radiAllaah anhu- who said I heard the Messenger of Allaah – sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam –saying:

Indeed Allaah will single out a man from my Ummah in front of all the people on the Day of Judgement.  Ninety-nine scrolls will be unrolled for him; every scroll will stretch as far as the eye can see.

Then Allaah will say: Do you deny anything of this?  Did the Angels recording your deeds oppress you?

So the man will say: No, my Lord.

Allaah will say: Do you have an excuse?

The man will say: No, my Lord.

Allaah will say: Yes, indeed, We have a good deed for you and indeed, there will be no oppression upon you today.

Then a card will be brought forth and in it will be: I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.

Then Allaah will say: Bring your bad deeds.

The man will say: What is this card compared with these scrolls?

Allaah will say: Indeed, you will not be oppressed.

The Prophet continued: The scrolls will be put on one side of the scales and the card will be put on the other side, the scrolls will be light and the card will be heavy, there can be nothing more heavy than the name of Allaah.[9]

Allah, the Most High, said: “And they were not commanded except that they should worship Allah alone, to be sincere to Him in Religion, upright and steadfast―and to perform the Prayers and pay the Zakāt, and that is the true religion.” (Al-Bayyinah: 5)

---

It was said to Abu ‘Ali Al-Fudayl bin ‘Iyād (d. 187H):

O Abu Ali, what is the meaning of best in deeds? He replied: To make it sincere and correct. He was asked: What is meant by making it sincere and correct? He replied: If a deed is done sincerely but not correctly, it will not be accepted. And if it is done correctly but not sincerely, it will not be accepted - until it is done both sincerely and correctly. It was said: O Abu Ali, what is sincerity and what is correct? He replied: Sincerity is that the deeds is done purely for Allah and correct is that it is done according to the Sunnah.

Al-Imām Ibn Bāz (rahimahullāh) commented on these words of Fudayl binIyād (rahimahullāh) said:

فالاهتمام بإحسان العمل أعظم وأوْلى من الكثرة، فكون المؤمن يهتم بإخلاص العمل وتنقيته من الرياء وغيره من أنواع الشرك، ويهتم بمُطابقته للشريعة، وألا يكون فيه ابتداعٌ؛ هذا أهم من الكثرة

Making the deed correct (according to the Sunnah) is more important than quantity - and the servant must give importance to performing the deed sincerely for Allah and purifying it from riyā (i.e. showing off to impress the people) and other than that from the categories of Shirk. So a person is to give importance to making sure the deed complies with the Sharīah and that is free from innovation - that is more important that quantity.
