“Is it allowed for me to supplicate to my Lord for a marriage to a specific person?

Question: Noble Shaykh may Allāh grant you success, this lady is asking a question, saying: “Is it allowed for me to supplicate to my Lord for a marriage to a specific person, so I say: ‘O, Allāh marry me to such and such’?”

Shaykh Sālih al-Fawzān: ‘Yes; there is no harm in that if she asks for him due to his religion (i.e., he is upright in his religion); if she likes him due to his religion she supplicates to Allāh with that (supplication).’

Having Boyfriends & Girlfriends – Shaykh Uthaymeen

Having Boyfriends & Girlfriends – Shaykh Uthaymeen

What is the ruling on a man and woman who kiss, and do everything else other than intercourse?

These actions which you mentioned are impermissible, haram upon them, because Allah – the Most High- says:

And those who guard their chastity (i.e private parts, from illegal sexual acts) except from their  wives or that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame, but whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; Al-Muminoon 5-7

And His statement – The One free from deficiency, the Most High:

And come not near to the unlawful sexual intercourse. Verily, it is  a Fahishah [i.e. anything that transgress its limits (a great sin)], and an evil way (that leads one to Hell unless Allah forgives him). Al Israa- 32

And He did not say, and do not fornicate, for the reason of tackling everything that is a cause and leads to fornication, and this, what they are doing, is zina of the hand by touching, zina of the eye by looking, zina of the feet by walking (to do that which is haraam), this is impermissible for them, upon them is to repent from it.

And upon those in responsibility is to educate them and dissuade them from the likes of these actions, and avert them from this sin.

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) did not prohibit being alone with a strange woman (one who it is not permissible to be alone with) except fearing from this action and its likes.

So you, may Allah give you success, advise them, with that which is upon you, and warn them from this, the impermissibility of this is clear and is present in the books of tafseer, books of hadeeth, books of fiqh, all of them, and it is not allowed and it is impermissible.

Answered by the Muhadith, the ‘Allaama, Shaykh of Hadeeth Muhammad Nasr ud-Deen al-Albaani

Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya

This is a translation of the transcript of a question that was asked to Shaykh al-Albaani – may Allaah have mercy upon him.

Shaykh: Yes

Questioner: Assalamu alaykum

Shaykh: wa Alaykum Assalamu wa Rahmatullaahi wa Baraktuhu

Questioner: If you don’t mind is the noble Shaykh al-Albaani there?

Shaykh: He’s with you.

Questioner: Good, if you would allow me O Shaykh I have some questions to ask.

 Shaykh: Go ahead.

Questioner: Is it permissible to talk to my fiancée over the phone?

Shaykh: have you contracted the marriage yet or not?

 Questioner: not yet.

 Shaykh: It’s not permissible.

Questioner: Not permissible??

 Shaykh: Not allowed.

Questioner: Even if it’s for advice?

 Shaykh: it’s not permissible.

Questioner: ok is it permissible for me to visit her and sit with her if the Mahram is present?

Shaykh: with a Mahram being present and she comes in front of you wearing a Jilbaab in Hijab, like when she goes out, then it’s allowed, otherwise no.

Questioner: is it possible for her to uncover her face?

Shaykh: it’s possible, if it’s only the face.

Questioner: only the face?

Shaykh: She shouldn’t wear a beautified dress and a short dress etc.

Questioner: ok regarding sitting with her, what is permissible for me to talk to her about?

Shaykh: Do not talk to her except with what you would talk to with other than her.

Questioner: Ok if she asks me for a picture of me, is it ok to give it to her or not?

Shaykh: just like if you asked her for her picture.

Questioner: yes??

Shaykh: I said just like if you asked her for her picture.

Questioner: yeah.

Shaykh: Is it permissible?

Questioner: No.

Shaykh: and my answer is also no.

Questioner: your answer is no??

Shaykh: no, definitely no.

Questioner: about what??

Shaykh: About what! For the same thing what you said, that you cannot ask her for her picture.

Questioner: yeah.

Shaykh: understand?

Questioner: yeah, yes.

Shaykh: If you understand then stick to it.

Questioner: But O Shaykh sometimes a person is forced to phone her, is this permissible?

Shaykh: I don’t think there is a need, you want to marry her don’t you?

Questioner: For example, is it permissible to phone her for the possibility that I can visit her, at such and such time?

Shaykh: why do want to visit her?! What’s the difference between her and any other woman?

Questioner: Do you mean it’s not allowed to visit her?

Shaykh: O my brother, I say to you what’s the difference between her and any other woman? Why do you want to visit her? You want to marry her; you marry her by requesting it from her guardian.

Questioner: If her guardian is present?

Shaykh: You want to marry her, you marry her by requesting her guardian, if there is an original agreement then you can visit her if the guardian is present, to see her and she sees you, as for visiting her then no!

Questioner: It’s still not allowed to visit even after the engagement?

Shaykh: After the engagement?

Questioner: Yeah.

Shaykh: She remains to be a stranger to you O brother until you perform the marriage contract.

Questioner: Thank you, may Allaah reward you O Shaykh.

Shaykh: And you.

Questioner: May Allaah be generous to you.

Shaykh: May Allaah protect you… Sallamu alayk.

Is it permissible for a woman to pierce her nose and wear a ring in it? Is it permissible to use the "Shudhar" (Duge) ? Fatwas of the Permanent Committee

Browse by Volume Number > Group 1 > Volume 24: Miscellaneous Fatwas 1 > Book on miscellaneous Fatwas > Dress and adornment > Wearing a nose ring

Q 4: Is it permissible for a woman to pierce her nose and wear a ring in it? Is it permissible to use the "Shudhar"? "Shudhar" is a substance that is to be rubbed on hands after using henna in order to make the henna color black. Is it permissible to use black dye on the hands, which is called Duge?

A: This question includes three points:

1- Putting rings in the nose. It is permissible to put rings in the nose, because piercing the nose is made for beautification purposes, not for harming or altering the creation of Allah.

2- Rubbing Shudhar on hands after using henna in order to make the henna color black. The Sunnah indicates that it is permissible for women to dye their hands with henna, and scholars stated that it is Mustahab (desirable), and that not doing it is Makruh (disliked). There is no harm in adding “Shudhar” to it.

3- Based on what is mentioned above, the ruling of using the black dye, called Duge, is permissible. However, if the Duge is impermeable, it is obligatory to remove it before Ghusl (ritual bath following major ritual impurity) taken after Janabah (major ritual impurity related to sexual discharge), menstruation and postpartum period, and before Wudu' (ablution). May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

Fatwá: Women Dancing Amongst Themselves | Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādi’ī (رحمه الله)

Women Dancing Amongst Themselves

Question:

What is the ruling on a woman dancing amongst women and is there a criterion for that?

Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādi’ī (رَحِمَهُ اللهُ) said:

If it does not resemble the enemies of Islām and it is within the boundaries of the customs of the Sharī’ah then there is no harm with that. [However], if it resembles the enemies of Islām and it is not within the boundaries of the etiquette of the Sharī’ah then it is not permissible.

I do not know the [manner of] dancing of modern women in this time so I cannot  give a [specific] ruling upon it however this is the criterion [for its permissibility or impermissibility]. May Allāh bless you.

Questioner:

Many a times I [try to] awake my wife for the Fajr prayer however she doesn’t get up, instead, she constantly performs the  prayer after sunrise. What is incumbent to do hereafter?

Shaykh āli ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān:

Her prayer is not accepted. If she does not get up to pray the Fajr prayer you should divorce her. She is not a Muslim. Those  who miss the Fajr prayer are not Muslims. If she repents, then Allah accept her repentance, so remain with her, otherwise, look for someone else.

Fatwa: Shaikh Ubaid on women who still have fasts to make up from last year and are not able.

Shaikh Ubaid al-Jaabiree on a woman who still has not made up her fasts from last year.

Q. If a woman has outstanding fasts remaining to make up from the previous Ramadaan but she is not able to make them up, and Ramadaan has again come upon her, then what is upon her?

A. So long as she is unable and incapable, she may fast them (the one she still has to make up) after this Ramadan. Alhamdulillâh, the matter has some leeway so she can fast them (i.e. make them up) after Ramadan.

Ruling on Salah of a woman whose hair shows unintentionally

Q: If after finishing the Zhuhr (Noon) Prayer, for example, I  discovered that part of my hair was uncovered, should I repeat the Salah (Prayer) or should I repeat the last two Rak’ahs (units of Prayer) in which I discovered  that my hair showed? May Allah reward you with the best!

A: This matter can be detailed as follows. If a few hairs become uncovered and you do not know about that until after finishing Salah, then there is nothing wrong and your Salah is valid. But if a large part of your head shows, then it is better to repeat the Salah to be on the safe side.

(Part No.7; Page No. 268)

Q: A female questioner from Jizan district says: When I was performing Sujud (prostration) in Zhuhr Prayer, my son uncovered my whole head by pulling the head cover, but I took it and put it immediately on my head and continued with the Salah? Is my Salah valid?

A: Yes, if you put on the head cover straightaway, then there is no problem and the Salah is valid, Al-hamdu lillah (All praise is due to Allah).

Is it permissible for children to wear their garments below their ankles? Shaykh Shaykh Sālih al Fawzān حفظه الله

Question: What is the ruling upon young children lengthening/wearing their garments below their ankles?

Shaykh Sālih al Fawzān حفظه الله

Answer: It is not permissible for men/boys to wear their garments below their ankles, because this is ‘isbāl’ in relation to the male. The Prophet Salallaahu alayhi wa Sallam said, “That which is below the ankles is in the Fire.” (Al-Bukhārī)

As for the women, that which is requested from her, is to lengthen her garment in order to cover the feet and heels. It is required from her to loosen her garment from behind to the extent that it covers her heels. However, nowadays the affair has become the opposite. The men lengthen their garments below their ankles, and the women raise their garments and show their shins, or some of them show their legs/thighs, and this is from Shaytān.

For the Men of Paradise are the Hoorul 'Een, so What is There for the Women?

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-Uthaymeen rahimahullaah was asked in his Majmoo’ Fataawaa vol. 2, pge 51:

Q: It has been mentioned that for the men are the Hoorul-‘Een (fair maidens with large, beautiful eyes) in Paradise, so what is there for the women?

A: Allaah – the Exalted and Most High says regarding the bliss of the people  of Paradise:

وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِي أَنفُسُكُمْ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَدَّعُونَ نُزُلًا مِّنْ غَفُورٍ رَّحِيمٍ

“ And you will have therein whatever your souls  desire, and you will have therein whatever you request. As accommodation from a Lord who is Forgiving and Merciful.” [41:31-32]

And He The Most High says:

وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِيهِ الْأَنفُسُ وَتَلَذُّ الْأَعْيُنُ ۖ وَأَنتُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

“ And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide  therein eternally.” [43:71]

And it is known that from the most desirable of things to the souls is marriage – so it is something that the inhabitants of Paradise will have, the males from them & the females.

So the woman, Allaah – Exalted and Most High – will cause her to be married to the husband that she was married to in this world, just as Allaah – the Exalted and Most High  - said:

رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ الَّتِي وَعَدتَّهُمْ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

“Our Lord! And admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which you have promised them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Verily, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.” [40:8]

The ruling concerning the 'zaghrata' (noise women make at celebrations using the tongue)

Question:

What is the ruling concerning the zaghrata which is a noise  (collectively) made by women (using the tongue) at marriage celebrations. Benefit us may Allah reward you

Answer:

It is not permissible for women to raise their voices in the presence of men not by way of the ‘zaghrata’ or anything else (for that matter) for indeed the womans voice is a fitna (trial).

Additionally the ‘zaghrata’ isn’t know with many of the Muslims of the past or the present. Thus it is an evil custom that should be left, as it is also an indication of (a woman having) little shame.

Who will be the Husbands of the Women of Paradise?

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-Uthaymeen raahimahullaah was asked in his Majmoo’ Fataawaa vol. 2, page 53:

Q: If a woman had two husbands  in this world, who will she be with – out of the two of them (in the Hereafter)? And why did Allaah mention the wives for the men and He did not mention the husbands for the women (of Paradise)?

A: If a woman were to have two husbands in this world then she is given a choice between them on the Day of Resurrection, in Paradise.

And if she did not marry in this world then Allaah the Most High causes her to get married in Paradise to someone that is pleasing to her eye.

So the bliss of Paradise is not restricted to the males, rather it is for the males and the females. And from that bliss is marriage.

As for the questioner’s saying: “Allaah the Most High  mentioned the  Hoorul-‘Een (fair maidens with large, beautiful eyes) and they are wives (for the men), but He did not mention husbands for the women.”

Then we say: The wives were mentioned for the husbands because  the husband he is the  one who requests  and desires the woman. Due to this  the wives were mentioned for the  men in Paradise, and  (due to this) the husbands for the women were not made mention  of.

However this does not mean that they will not have husbands, rather they will have husbands from the sons of Aadam.
