Hidden Charity Extinguishes the Anger of the Lord

From Abu amzah al-Thumāli who said:

‘Alī bin al-usayn[1] used to carry bags of bread over his back during the night and would give it in charity. And he would say: Verily, hidden charity extinguishes the anger of the Lord, the Mighty and Majestic.[2]

This statement  about hidden charity is raised  (مرفوع) to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم which Shaykh al-Albānī authenticated on account of all of its routes of transmission, see text below. [3]

The Distinction of Imam Bukhari (Rahimahullaah)

Sincerity in worldly Affairs

Bukharis son sent him some merchandise to sell and some businessmen requested to buy it for five thousand Dirhams, so Bukhari said:

Leave it tonight.

The next day some other businessmen came and requested to buy it for ten thousand, so Bukhari said to them:

Indeed I had made the intention to sell it to those who came last night and I do not love to change my intention.

Did he die upon the Sunnah?

Mu’tamir bin Sulaiman (رَحِمَهُ اللهُ) narrates:

I entered upon my father and I was heartbroken. He said: What is with you? I said, My friend died. He said, Did he die upon the Sunnah? I said: Yes. He said, So do not fear for him.

The Worship of al- Imām al-Awzā’ ī رحمه الله

One of the women entered upon the wife of Imām al-Awzā’ī, may Allah have mercy upon him, and so she saw wetness in the place of prostration of al-Awzā’ī (the place where he prayed in his home), so she said to the wife of al-Awzā’ī, “May your mother be bereaved of you! I see you have not paid attention to one of the children such that he has urinated in the place where the Shaikh (al-‘Awzā’ī) prays”, so the wife of al-‘Awzā’ī said to her in rebuttal,”…(rather) this is how it becomes (wet) every night, from the tears of the Shaikh in his prostrations.”

A Mother’s Dua’

Imam al-Bukhari’s mother used to worship and make Dua’ a lot. Allaah honoured her and her son remarkably.

Her son Muhammad [Bukhari] lost his eye sight when he was a young and his mother saw Ibraheem al-Khaleel (the Prophet) in a dream and he said to her:

O you, indeed Allaah has returned the eyesight of your son due to your supplicating a lot. In the morning Allaah had returned his eyesight.

Wisdom for the First Wife whose Husband Married a Second, from the Stories of the Arabs

A man married a new woman from the
Arabs, whilst still married to his first wife.
The new wife would pass by the door of
the first wife and say:

وما يستوي الثوبان ثوب به البِلَى

وثوب بأيدي البائعين جديد

The two garments are not equal,
The one which is old and worn out and the
one which is still new in the hands of the
sellers

The first wife came out and said:

نقَّل فؤادك حيث شئت من الهوى
ما القلب إلا للحبيب الأولِ
كم منزل في الأرض يألفه الفتى

وحنينه أبدا لأول منزلِ

Let your heart move wherever you desire,
For the heart does not belong except to
the first love,

How often does a man become
acquainted with a house within the earth,
But his longing is eternally for his first
home.
