Dhikr For Repentance

From Ibn Umar –RadhiAllaahu anhumma- who said:

“We would count that the Messenger of Allaah –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– would say in one sitting one hundred times:

رَبِّ اغْفِرْليِ وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

“O my Lord forgive me and accept my repentance indeed You are the One who forgives and most merciful.”

The Ruling of the Effects of the Tattoo Remaining on the Body

Shaykh Abdul Azeez bin Abdullaah bin Baz –Rahimahullaah- (d. 1420 A.H.) said:

When a Muslim gets tattooed whilst in a state of ignorance of it being prohibited, or whilst he was young, then it is necessary for him to remove them after having knowledge that it is prohibited. However, if there is a hardship in removing it or harm, then repentance and seeking forgiveness is sufficient.

The Character of Seeking Forgiveness

The Character of Seeking Forgiveness

Allaah Taala says:

And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him, He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain, and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as disbelievers in the Oneness of Allaah). (Hood:52)

Al-Hafidh Ibn Katheer -Rahimahullaah- said:

من اتصف بصفة الاستغفار يسر الله عليه رزقه وسهــل عليـه أمـره وحفظ عليه شأنه وقوته.

On the authority of Abu Dharr in a narration ascribed to the Prophet:

21- 323 – On the authority of Abu Dharr in a narration ascribed to the Prophet: "Smiling in your brother’s face is charity (Sadaqah) for you, when you enjoin the good and prohibit evil it is charity, when you show directions to a man who has lost his way it is Sadaqah for you. Helping a weak–sighted person by using your sight is charity for you. When you remove a rock, thorn and bones from the pathway it is charity for you. When you pour from your bucket into your brother’s bucket it is charity for you."

Keeping away from evil is indeed Sadaqa.

32- 351 – On the authority of Abu Musa al-Ashaari in a narration ascribed to the Prophet:

‘Every Muslim has to give Sadaqa (charity).’ It was asked what if it cannot be found? He said: ‘He should work with his hands, so he benefits himself and gives Sadaqa.’ It was asked: ‘What if that cannot be done?’ He said: ‘He helps the person who is in need and is troubled.’ It was asked: ‘What if that cannot be done?’ He said: ‘Command good actions or goodness.’ It was asked: ‘What if he does not do that?’ He said: ‘Keeping away from evil is indeed Sadaqa.’

Tawheed is The Best of Righteous Deeds

On the authority of Abu Dharr who said: ‘I said: O Messenger of Allaah advise me.’ The Messenger  -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said: ‘If you do a bad deed then follow it up with a good one  and it wipes it out.’ Abu Dharr continued: I said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah is La ilaha ‘illa Allaah from the good deeds?’ He answered: ‘It is the best of righteous deeds.’

The Excellence of ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allah’

The Excellence of ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allah’

There is None Worthy of Worship, in Truth, Except Allaah’

By Hafidh al-Hakami –Rahimahullaah-

Taken from his book ‘Ma’arij al-Qabool’

Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya

The words in the testification ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allah’ are words which are the path to the success of entry into Paradise and salvation from the fire.

Allaah- Azza wa jal- said: { And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful.} (Al-Imraan: 185)

It is the way and path to happiness in the two worlds which cannot be reached except by these words. It is with this statement that Allaah sent His Messengers and with it, He revealed His Books. The Dunya and the Hereafter, Paradise and Hell-Fire were created for this statement.

Happiness and wretchedness are directly related to this testification. Due to it, the records of deeds will be taken either to the right or the left and the scale will be either heavy or light. By it is being saved from the Fire after its advent whilst not adhering to ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allaah’ is remaining in the Fire.

Due to it, Allaah took the covenant, because of it is recompense and accountability and regarding it, will be the questioning on the Day of Meeting.

As Allah –Ta’ala- says: { So, by your Lord, We shall certainly call all of them to account. For all that they used to do. } (Al-Hijr: 92-93)

Allah –Ta’ala- said: { Then surely, We shall question those (people) to whom it (the Book) was sent and verily, We shall question the Messengers.} (A’raaf: 6)

As for Allaah – Ta’ala- questioning those to whom ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allaah’ was sent, on the Day of Judgement , then from that is His saying- { And (remember) the Day (Allaah) will call to them and say: ‘What answer gave you to the Messengers?} (Qasas: 65) along with the preceding, following and other Aayaat.

As for Allah questioning the Messengers then from that is the saying of Allah – Ta’ala- { On the Day when Allah will gather the Messengers together and say to them: ‘What was the response you received (from men to your teaching)? They will say: ‘We have no knowledge, verily, only You are the All-Knower of all that is hidden (or unseen, etc.} (al-Mai’dah: 109) and there are other similar Aayaat.

From What Obligates Forgiveness

From al-Miqdam bin Shuraih from his father, from his grandfather who said I said:

O Messenger of Allaah guide me to a deed which will enter me into Paradise.

The Messenger answered:

‘Indeed from those matters which obligate forgiveness is striving to say Salaam and good speech.’

Seal The Month Of Ramadan With Seeking Forgiveness

Ibn Rajab رحمه الله said:

Seeking forgiveness is a seal for all righteous deeds. It seals the prayer, Hajj, Qayyam Al-Layl the night prayer and it seals gatherings. Therefore, if it was a Remembrance of Allaah then it is like putting a stamp of seal on it and if there were mistakes and deficiencies then it would be an expiation for it. Likewise it is befitting to complete the Ramadan with seeking forgiveness.

Umar Bin AbdulAziz wrote to the different regions commanding them to complete Ramadan with seeking forgiveness and giving Sadaqa Al-Fitr. Indeed Sadaq Al-Fitr is a purification for the fasting person from mistakes and evil deeds and seeking forgiveness patches that which is torn from the fast due to mistakes and evil deeds.

This is why some of the previous scholars said: ‘Indeed Sadaqa Al-Fitr for the fasting person is like performing the two Sajdas for forgetfulness for the prayer.’

Umar Bin AbdulAziz [Died 101 A.H.] [رحمه الله] said in his book, say as your father Adam said:

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ))

« They said: ‘Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If you forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers.’ » [Ara’af: 23]

Say as Nuh [عليه سلم] said:

وَإِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِي وَتَرْحَمْنِي أَكُن مِّنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ)

« And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me, I would indeed be one of the losers. » [Hud: 47]

Say as Musa [عليه سلم] said:

رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْلِي))

«My Lord!Verily, I have wronged myself, so forgive me. » [Qasas: 16]

Say as Dhul-Noon [عليه سلم] said:

سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ))

«Glorified [and Exalted] are You [above all that [evil] they associate with You]. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers. » [Al-Anbiyya: 87]

The Two Cures

THE TWO CURES

Ibn al- Qayyim –Rahimahullaah – said:

Soorah Al-Fatiha comprises of two types of cures:

شفاء القلوب

cure for hearts

cure for bodies

I used to be affected by pains and I would hasten to read Soorah Al-Fatiha and wipe myself with it, and it was as if pebbles would fall off me.

From the Glad Tidings of a Good Ending

FROM THE GLAD TIDINGS OF A GOOD ENDING

Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya

From Hudayfah who said: I made the Prophet sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam recline against my chest and he said:

Whoever says La ilaha ila Allaah seeking the Face of Allaah and dies whist doing so enters Paradise.

Whoever fasts a day seeking the Face of Allaah and dies whilst doing so enters Paradise.

Whoever gave charity seeking the Face of Allaah and dies whilst doing so enters Paradise.’

[Collected by Ahmad. Al-Mundhri said: Collected by Ahmad and his Isnaad has no problems. Albaani authenticated it in Saheeh Targheeb no. 985.]

In another narration with extra wording:

من ختم له بإطعام مسكين محتسبا على الله عز وجل دخل الجنة

Whoever dies whilst feeding a needy person seeking a reward from Allaah Azza wa Jal enters Paradise.’

[Researched by Albaani in Silsilah Saheeh no. 1645]

 In another narration:

‘O Hudayfah, whoever dies whilst fasting one day wanting the Face of Allaah Azza wa Jal, then Allaah enters him into Paradise.’
