Patience and Awaiting Relief from Difficulties

------

Patience and Awaiting Relief from Difficulties

Shaikh ‘Abdur-Rahmaan as-Sa’dee said: “And from the benevolence of Allaah towards His servant is: that He tests him with some of the calamities, so He grants him the ability to rise up with the task of exercising patience in them, thus He causes him to attain elevated levels that he would otherwise not have reached with his actions. The tribulation may be intensified upon him with that; as was done with Ayyoob (‘alaihis-salaam), and there is to be found in his heart the sweetness of the essence of hope and expectation of mercy and removal of harm, and so his pain is reduced and his soul is invigorated. Due to this; it is from the benevolence of Allaah towards the believers that he placed in their hearts the anticipation of reward, so that their calamities are lightened, and that which they encounter from hardships is made easier in attainment of His pleasure.”[16]

Take benefit from five before five:

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allaah (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

Take benefit from five before five:

Your youth before your old age;

Your health before your illness;

Your riches before your poverty;

Your free time before your preoccupation [with other affairs]

And your life before your death.

A Characteristic of the Truthful one – Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah)

The truthful person is one compelled to a severe need of obeying the commandments (of Allaah); submitting to the (Sunnah of the) Messenger inwardly and outwardly and following him; worshiping Allaah through obedience to the Messenger in every act (of worship that involves) movement or without movement and with a sincere intention for the Sake of Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic).

Allaah may forgive any sin that a believer commits except the sin of disbelief (i.e. for the one who does not repent).

Verily, Allāh forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners (in worship) with Him,  but He forgives whom He wills sins other than that,  and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allāh, has indeed strayed far away.

Surah An-Nisa, verse 116

The Foundation of Salafi Dawah

Shaikh Muhammad Bn Nāsirid-Dīn Al-Albānī (رحمه الله):

The foundations of the Salafī da’wah is established upon three pillars:

- The Noble Qur’ān

- The Authentic Sunnah

- Understanding them upon the methodology of the pious predecessors; from the companions, the tābi’ūn and their successors.

And the reason for the misguidance of all the (misguided groups); both ancient and modern is not holding firm to the three pillars.

Recourse to Allaah and Turning to Him in Supplication – The Characteristic of the Believer When Calamities Befall

Shaikh ul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) explained:

Supplication is a reason that repels tribulation. So if it is stronger than it; then it repels it, yet if the reason for the tribulation is stronger then it does not repel it, however it lessens it and weakens it, and it is due to this that one has been commanded at the times of the eclipse and the (other) signs with: prayer and supplication and seeking forgiveness and giving charity and emancipation (of slaves), and Allaah Knows best.

Ill-Mannered Towards Family [i.e. Parents, Wives, Children and Other Relatives] But Good Mannered Towards People Who Are Not Related To Us – [A Brief Admonition By Imaam Ash-Shawkaaani

Imaam Ash-Shawkaani (rahimahullaah) said:

Indeed, [amongst] the people [i.e. believers] – those with the loftiest station in goodness and the worthiest of being described as such – are those people who give their families the best treatment, for indeed the family of a person are worthier of being approached with cheerfulness, good manners and kindness, bringing good to them and repelling harm from them. So, if a man is like this [to his family], he is from the best of the people [i.e. in this affair]; but if not , he is on the opposite side – evil [behaviour], so you see a man being the most ill-mannered, the most selfish and the least in bringing good when he meets his family; but when he meets others, he becomes good natured, good mannered, upright and brings a lot of good. Indeed, there is no doubt that the one who is like this is deprived and has deviated from the right path [i.e. in this affair]. And we ask Allaah for safety [from evil].

Patience at the Times of Trials and Tribulations

“The best of the Prophets & Messengers and their followers were afflicted by difficulties, by need & poverty, but they were patient, similarly this is needed for every believer man & woman, patience upon what they are tested with…”
