And whoever turns away from Allaah's reminder - indeed, he will have a miserable life...

124. "But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur’ān nor acts on its teachings.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection.”

Every Good Upon the Earth is Due to the Tawheed of Allaah and Worship of Him and Obedience to His Messenger

-----

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said:

Whoever reflects over the circumstances of the world, he will find that every goodness in the earth – its reason is the Tawheed of Allaah and worshipping Him and obedience to His Messenger, and that every evil in the world and tribulation and trial and drought and empowered supremacy of an enemy and other than that – its reason is opposing His Messenger and the call to other than Allaah and His Messenger. Likewise, whoever reflects over this in true reflection and contemplates over the circumstances of the world – from its inception until now; and up until Allaah reclaims the earth and those that are upon it, he will find this affair to be exclusively of relevance within himself as well as in the right of other than himself – in general and in particular.

To have a good thoughts about Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic)

Question: Could you explain to us what it means to have a good opinion about Allaah?

Answer: Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen رَحِمَهُ اللهُ answered:

To have a good opinion about Allaah means that when a person does a righteous action he should have good thoughts about his Lord that He will accept (that action) from him; when he supplicates to Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic)  he should have good thoughts about Allaah  that He will accept his supplication from him and will answer him; when he commits a sin and later repents to Allaah and leaves that sin he should have good thoughts about Allaah that He will accept his repentance.

When Allaah (The Most High) decrees calamities in the world he should have good thoughts about Allaah, and that He (The Mighty and Majestic) only decreed those calamities for tremendous  and great wisdoms; he should have a good opinion about Allaah in everything that Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic) decrees in this universe, and in everything that Allaah (The Most High) legislates upon the tongue of His Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa ala aalihi wa sallam), that it is good and beneficial to the creation, even though some people may not comprehend this benefit, and may not comprehend the wisdom behind that which He legislated; however, it is (incumbent) upon us all to submit to Allaah’s decrees, whether they are religious decrees (rulings) or universal decrees, and to have a good opinion about Him, because He ( The Exalted and Most High) is the One Who truly deserves all praise and glory.

"They know only the outer appearance of the life of the world, and they are heedless of the Hereafter." (30:7)

Al-assan Al-Bari said, “It has reached the state that in this world one of them could put a Dirham on his finger and tell how much it weighs, but he does not know how to pray properly.”

They know only the outer appearance of the life of the world, and they are heedless of the Hereafter.

Ibn ‘Abbās  said, “This means that the disbelievers know how to prosper in this world, but they are ignorant of matters of religion.”*

It is obligatory to obey the Book of Allāh, the Sunnah of His Messenger, the Rightly-Guided Khalīfahs and the Imāms when they command us to obey Allāh.

51The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allāh and His Messenger, to judge between them , is that they say: “We hear and we obey”. And such are the successful.

52. And whosoever obeys Allāh and His Messenger, fears Allāh, and has Taqwā of Him, such are the successful

... Allātells us about the attributes of the believers who respond to Allāh and His Messenger and who seek no other way apart from the Book of Allāh  and the Sunnah of His Messenger

Allāh says:

The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allāh and His Messenger, to judge between them , is that they say: “We hear and we obey”.

Meaning, to hear  to obey. Allāh describes them as having  attained success, which is achieving what one wants and being saved from what one fears. So Allāh says:

And such are the successful

Concerning the Āyah:

they say: “We hear and we obey”.

Qatādah said: “We were told  that when  ‘Ubādah bin As-Sāmit, who had been present  at Al-‘Aqabah and at Badr, and was one of the leaders of the Anār, was dying, he said to his nephew Junādah bin Abi Umayyah:  ‘Shall I not tell you what you must do and what is your due?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘You have to listen and obey when times are easy and when they are hard, when you feel energetic and when you do not want to, and when you feel selfish. You have to train your tongue  to speak the truth. Do not go against those who are in authority, unless they openly command you to commit acts of disobedience to Allāh. Whenever you are commanded to do something that goes against the Book of Allāh, then follow the Book of Allāh. “(1)*

Qatādah said: We were told that Abu Ad-Dardā’ said, “There is no Islām except through obedience to Allāh, and no goodness except in Jamā’ah. Sincerity is to Allāh and His Messenger , and to the Khalīfah and all the believers.” He said: “And we were told that ‘Umar bin Al-Khaṭṭab, may Allāh be pleased with him, used to say; ‘The bonds of Islām are Lā ilāha illallāh, establishing prayer, paying Zakāh and obeying those whom Allāh has given authority over the affairs of the Muslims.’” This was recorded by Ibn Abi ātim.(2)*...

And whosoever obeys Allāh and His Messenger,

in what he is commanded with, and avoid  what he is forbidden,

fears Allāh, means, for his past sins,

And has Taqwā of Him, regarding sins he may commit in the future.

Such are the successful. means, those  who will attain all goodness  and be saved  from all evil in this world and the Hereafter.

Obtaining the Pleasure of Allāh

Yūnus Ibn Ubayd (d. 139 AH) رَحِمَهُ اللهُ – said:

“With good manners, you understand the knowledge. With this knowledge, your actions are corrected. With actions, wisdom is obtained. With wisdom, you understand zuhd (abstinence) and are granted its benefits. With zuhd comes abandoning the world. With abandoning  the world comes desire for the Hereafter. With desire for the Hereafter the pleasure of Allāh – the Mighty and Majestic – is obtained.”

Your Limbs Will Testify On The Day of Reckoning (i.e Judgement) Against You!

20. Till, when they reach it (Hell-fire), their hearing (ears) and their eyes, and their skins will testify against them as to what they used to do.

21. And they will say to their skins, “Why do you testify against us?” They will say: “Allāh has caused us to speak as He causes all things to speak, and He created you the first time, and to Him you are made to return.”

22. And you have not been hiding yourselves (in the world), lest you ears, your eyes, and your skins should testify against you; but you thought that Allāh knew not much of what you were doing.

23. And that thought of yours which you thought about your Lord, has brought you to destruction; and you have become (this Day) of those utterly lost!
