How divine remedies affect diseases

-----

The heart was created to acquire knowledge of its Creator and to love Him, worship Him Alone, be content with Him, to be joyous loving Him and to feel satisfied with Him. The heart was also created to rely on Allāh, to love fo His Sake, hate for His Sake, to be loyal for His Sake, to be enemies of His enemies for His Sake and to remember Him always. The heart was created to love Him more than anyone or anything else, to have Hope in Him rather than anyone or anything else and to revere Him more than anything or anyone else. There is no joy, happiness, delight or sweetness except by acquiring such qualities, which are just like food, good health and life for the heart. When the heart looses its food, health and life, then sadness, grief and affliction will attack it from all sides and will remain with it.

The worst diseases that attack the heart are Shirk (polytheism, making partners with Allāh), sins, and forgetfulness, ignoring what Allāh likes and is pleased with, abandoning relating all matters to Him and not depending on Him for everything. Diseases of the heart also include relying  on other than Allāh, rejecting His decisions and doubting and ignoring His warnings and promises.

When one thinks about the diseases of the heart, he will find that the reasons that we mentioned are the only ones behind these ills.

The Physiological and Spiritual Affects of Sins on The Body and Heart:

The Physiological and Spiritual Affects of Sins on The Body and Heart:

Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

Doctors of old said, “Whoever seeks to acquire good health for the body should consume less amounts of food and drink. Whoever seeks the well-being of his heart, let him abandon sin.

Also, Thabit bin Qurrath said,

“The body’s well-being requires consuming less food, the soul’s comfort is in committing less sins and the consolation of the tongue is in uttering less speech.”

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said,

Sins are just like poison to the heart – if they do not destroy it, they will weaken it. Then when the heart is weaker, it will become less efficient in fighting disease.

The biggest of the heart’s ills occur by satisfying its lusts and desires, while ignoring them constitutes its biggest cure.

We should also mention that originally, ignorance and injustice were created in the self (nafs). Because the self is ignorant, it thinks that its cure is in the following its desire, although this path leads it to its destruction and demise.

He رحمه الله  also said,

Four matters harden the face and rid it of its youth and health:

Lying, rudeness, asking too many questions without knowledge (or useful purpose) and sinning.

Four matters increase the youth of the face:

Chivalry, faithfulness, generosity and fear of Allāh.

Four matters bring about anger and hatred:

Arrogance, envy, lying and spreading calumnies.

Four matters bring sustenance:

Standing up in prayer at night, seeking forgiveness (of Allāh) often at night, giving away in charity and remembering Allah morning and evening.

Four matters prevent sustenance:

Sleeping in the morning (after fajr), not praying often, laziness and treachery.”

Health is from the Most Precious of Blessings

 ....

Imām Adh-Dhahabi (died 748 AH, rahimahullāh) stated:

It is compulsory upon every Muslim to seek nearness to Allāh, the Most High, by way of every means he is able to muster. He must exert himself in fulfilling the commands and the acts of obedience to Allah. And after the affair of fulfilling the commands and keeping away from the forbidden matters, the most beneficial means and most successful path of nearness to Allah for a person is to maintain good health and treat his illnesses. That is because good health is something that one seeks in the legislated supplications and acts  of worship. (At-Tibb an-Nabawiyy, p. 18)

There are two blessings in which many people incur loss

 -----

the Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) stressed its importance, saying:

(( نِعْمَتَانِ مَغْبُونٌ فِيهِمَا كَثِيْـرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ: الصِّحَّةُ وَالفَرَاغُ ))

Two blessings are neglected by many of the people: good health and free time. [2]

The meaning of As-Salaamu-Alaikum

5:05 PM, 24 Feb 2019 | @MTWSNC

The meaning of As-Salaamu-Alaikum

The scholar Shaykh Uthaymeen said: ‘As-Salaamu-Alaikum’ is a prayer for safety and security from all harms. When you say to someone ‘As-Salaamu Alaikum’ this means you are praying to Allah that He protects this person from all harms. You are asking Him to protect them from sickness, insanity and mental illness, and the evil of people. You are asking Allah  to protect them from committing sins, the sicknesses of the heart and you are asking Him to protect them from the Hell-fire. Thus this phrase is comprehensive. It is a supplication for the individual to whom you are speaking to receive safety and security from all harms.

The Benefits of Eating With the Hand and Its Superiority

The Benefit And Etiquette of Eating By Hand in the Sunnah

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) as saying:

“ When any one of you eats food he should lick his fingers, for he does not know in what part of the food sticking to his fingers the blessing lies. [Muslim]

...

Ibn Al-Qayyim mentions in his Prophetic Medicine regarding the number of fingers the Prophet would use to eat his food:

“ He used to eat with his three fingers, which is the best way to eat. Eating with one finger or with two does not allow the one eating to derive pleasure nor does it give him any benefit, and it is a long while before he has enough; nor do the organs of taste or the stomach gain any pleasure by such small morsels. To eat with five fingers and the whole hand causes the food to crowd the organs and the stomach so the organs are forced to pass it through, and the stomach to bear it. This gives neither pleasure nor relish. The most excellent way of eating is that adopted by the Prophet and those who follow him, with three fingers.
