The Speech of Allāh: "Obey Allāh and His Messenger ﷺ"

O you who believe! Obey Allāh and obey the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. And if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allāh and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) if you believe in Allāh and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination.

Surah 4. An-Nisā’ verse 59

al-Hilâlî & Muhsin Khân Translation , The Noble Qur'ân

Stay firm on the path of truth

 .....

Some of our pious predecessors used to say: ‘Stay firm on the path of truth and feel not lonely for the paltry number of traversers [on the path]. Be careful of the path of falsehood and do not be tricked by the large number of people who have chosen to destroy themselves. Rather, whenever the singular nature of your path overwhelms you with loneliness, look towards the companions [of the path] that preceded you and aspire to be united with them. Do not concern yourself with anyone other than them, for they cannot benefit you in the slightest before Allāh. Even if they were to scream out after you whilst you traverse this path, do not turn to them. For, truly, should you turn to them they will capture you and make you from among those who are disobedient [to Allāh].”

Enjoining the good and Forbidding the evil

....

Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq said, “O people, you recite this verse and use it in the wrong place:

‏عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لاَ يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ

‘Upon you is to take care of your own selves, he who goes astray cannot harm you when you are rightly-guided’ (5:105)

We heard the Messenger () say, ‘When the people see a wrongdoer and they do not prevent him then Allāh will soon punish them all.'”

The Danger of the People of Innovation -

The Danger of the People of Innovation.

“Verily, The people of innovation are more harmful to Al-Islam than the jews and the christians”. A number of strong scholars of Al-Islam have said it. From them (the strong scholars) is Ibn ‘Aqeel and his teacher Al Hamdaani and also Ibn-l-jawzi and ibn Taymiyyah and other than them. And from them is As-shawkaani, He (As-shawkaani) mentioned it repeatedly in his Tafsir:” That the people of innovation are more harmful to Al islam than the jews and the christians and the zanadiqah (Those that deny the existence of Allaah). Why? This is because a lot of people trust those people (innovators), hence, they accept their falsehood and misguidance  and they do not trust the jews and the christians and the zanadiqah so they do not accept anything from them hence they are not harmed by them. However their harm is from these people (Innovators). Those that the muslims are deceived by. So they accept from them  (innovators’) their fables and their misguidance and their falsehood.

The Sincerity of Worship and its Reward with Allāh

The Variation [in Excellence] Among Men is Greater than the Variation Between the Angels

Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) said:

إذا كان الواحد منهم [ بنو آدم ] أفضل من الملائكة ، والواحد منهم شر من البهائم ؛ كان التفاضل الذي فيهم أعظم من تفاضل الملائكة ، وأصل تفاضلهم إنما هو بمعرفة الله ومحبته

When one among them [from Banī Ādam] can be superior [in excellence] than the Angels and one among them can be more evil [lowly] than the animals, then the variation [in excellence] that is between them is greater than the variation [in excellence] between the Angels. And the foundation of this variation [in excellence] is knowledge of Allāh and love of Him.

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم concerning the Scholars

Everyone in the sky and everyone on earth supplicates for the scholar, even the fish within the sea.

The Sahabah

...

Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Do not revile the Companions of Muhammad (peace be upon him) for an hour of their sitting (he means with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him) is better than the deeds of any of you for forty years.

In another narration related by Waki`, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: (...Is better than the deeds of any of you in their whole life).

Therefore, whoever curses any of the Sahabah (may Allah be pleased with them all) of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) will be entitled to a serious punishment according to the consensus of Muslim scholars.

However, they (Muslim scholars), disagreed on whether they should be sentenced to death or not.

Imaam al-Bukhaaree (d. 256H):

Imaam al-Bukhaaree (d. 256H)rahimahullaah – said, “I do not give any consideration to praying behind a Jahmee and a Raafidee, nor praying behind a Jew and a Christian. They are not to be greeted, nor are they to be visited, nor are they to be married, nor is their testimony to be accepted, nor are their sacrifices to be eaten.”9

The Pillars of Gratitude

The Pillars of Gratitude

Shaykh ʿUbayd al-Jābirī (حفظه الله) said:

The pillars of gratitude—those which if a person combines together he becomes truly grateful to Allāh—are three:

 a) Affirmation of the favour inwardly, with certainty that it is from Allāh, that if He wills, He can remove it or make it remain.

b) Informing about the favour openly, when there is a need to do that.

c) Making use of this favour in what pleases the one who bestowed it, which is Allāh.

Delaying the Prayer

“Indeed delaying the prayer until after its time deliberately is not accepted [in Islam] from the one who does that. And the sin of not praying is not removed from him even if he makes qadā (makes up the prayer later) ―and this is agreed upon by the Muslim scholars.”

Adhkar following each Salah - Fatwas of Ibn Baz

Adhkar following each Salah

…counting on their fingers, one should exalt Allah thirty three times by saying: “Subhana-Allah (Glory be to Allah)”, praise Him thirty three times by saying: “Al-hamdu-lillah (Praise be to Allah)”, and should also say: “Allahu-akbar (Allah is the Greatest)” thirty three times. The total is ninety nine. To make it hundred, one should say: “La ilaha illa Allah wahdahu la-sharika lahu lahu-lmulku walahu-lhamdu wahuwa `ala kulli shay’in qadir (None has the right to be worshipped except Allah Alone, without partner. His is the dominion and to Him belongs all praise and He has power over all things).”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whoever recites this Du`a’ (supplication), his sins will be forgiven even if they were as much as the foam of the ocean.

This Du`a’ contains great benefits and abundant good. The Hadith means that if recitation of this Du`a’is accompanied by sincere intention of turning to Allah in repentance, seeking Allah’s Forgiveness, regretting and giving up sins, Allah will hopefully grant the supplicant abundant good and may forgive his major sins. If these words are uttered out of true faith in Allah and out of sincere repentance, Allah will forgive both major and minor sins.

Seal The Month Of Ramadan With Seeking Forgiveness

Ibn Rajab رحمه الله said:

Seeking forgiveness is a seal for all righteous deeds. It seals the prayer, Hajj, Qayyam Al-Layl the night prayer and it seals gatherings. Therefore, if it was a Remembrance of Allaah then it is like putting a stamp of seal on it and if there were mistakes and deficiencies then it would be an expiation for it. Likewise it is befitting to complete the Ramadan with seeking forgiveness.

Umar Bin AbdulAziz wrote to the different regions commanding them to complete Ramadan with seeking forgiveness and giving Sadaqa Al-Fitr. Indeed Sadaq Al-Fitr is a purification for the fasting person from mistakes and evil deeds and seeking forgiveness patches that which is torn from the fast due to mistakes and evil deeds.

This is why some of the previous scholars said: ‘Indeed Sadaqa Al-Fitr for the fasting person is like performing the two Sajdas for forgetfulness for the prayer.’

Umar Bin AbdulAziz [Died 101 A.H.] [رحمه الله] said in his book, say as your father Adam said:

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ))

« They said: ‘Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If you forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers.’ » [Ara’af: 23]

Say as Nuh [عليه سلم] said:

وَإِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِي وَتَرْحَمْنِي أَكُن مِّنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ)

« And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me, I would indeed be one of the losers. » [Hud: 47]

Say as Musa [عليه سلم] said:

رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْلِي))

«My Lord!Verily, I have wronged myself, so forgive me. » [Qasas: 16]

Say as Dhul-Noon [عليه سلم] said:

سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ))

«Glorified [and Exalted] are You [above all that [evil] they associate with You]. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers. » [Al-Anbiyya: 87]

The Salaf During The End Of Ramadan

Ash-Shaikh Al-Allāmah Sālih al-Fawzān (may Allāh preserve him) said:

At the end of the month (of Ramadān), the pious predecessors used to increase in seeking forgiveness and repentance to Allāh, The Mighty and Majestic – they used to fear that it is not accepted, they used to strive during Ramadān and other than it.

Then, the fear of nothing of it being accepted from them will occur to them and they will seek the forgiveness of Allāh and they will repent. It was even narrated that they used to pray to Allāh six months (before Ramadān) that Allāh makes them reach the month of Ramadān, if Allāh makes them reach it, they will fast and stand at night (in prayer) and they will pray to Allāh for [another] six months that He accepts from them the month of Ramadān.
