Ibn Qayyim رحمه الله
said: and no doubt, allowing the women to mix with men is the origin of every
tribulation and evil, and it is from the greatest reasons of the descending of
general punishments, just as it is from the means of corruption of the public
and specific affairs. And men mixing with women is a reason for the abundance
of Fawaahish (immorality) and fornication. It is also a reason for widespread
death and continuous plagues. And when the prostitutes mixed with the army of
Musa and immorality spread amongst them, Allah sent upon them a plague and
70,000 people died in one day.
