Sālim bin ‘Abd Allāh bin ‘Umar wrote to ‘Umar bin ‘Abd al-‘Azīz:
If you intend and desire the truth, Allāh aids you upon it, and facilitates people for you, and brings them to you from where you did not expect.
For verily, the aid of Allāh is in accordance to the intention; therefore the one whose intention is complete, Allāh completes His aid for him.
And the one whose intention is deficient, (then) the aid is deficient according to what is deficient from it. And (may) peace (be upon you).
