Intercession
on the Day of Resurrection
The intercessions
that will take place on the Day of Resurrection are six intercessions which are
well known from the religious evidences. From the intercessions three of them are specific to the Prophet ﷺ and they are:
(1) The great intercession on behalf of the people
of the place of standing so that they are judged between them.
(2) Intercession
on behalf of the people of Paradise so that they may enter it.
(3) His
intercession on behalf of his uncle Abu Taalib for the reduction of the punishment so that he was placed in the part of the fire where the flames are up to his ankles. And this intercession is specific to the Prophet ﷺ and his uncle Abu Taalib; and as for the
disbelievers other than him there is no intercession on behalf of them due to
the saying of Allaah – 74:48 – meaning: So there will not benefit them the
intercession of [any] intercessors.
(4 & 5) Intercession on behalf of those who deserve
the Fire so that they do not enter it; and those who enter it exit from it.
(6) His
intercession on behalf of the people of Paradise so their station is elevated.
And this latter intercession is general, for the Prophet ﷺ and for other prophets besides him, the
righteous, the angels and the dead from the young children of the Muslims; and
all of it is specifically on behalf of the people of Tawheed.
