Dealing with people who intentionally try to Anger you
Explained by Imam as-Sa’di (1889-1956)
It is unavoidable that people will be harmed – verbally and
physically. Thus the person must mentally prepare himself to bear these harms
while knowing that verbal assaults only harm the perpetrator. It is from resoluteness
and strength that the person is not
affected by speech which is intended to infuriate and anger him. Rather
he or she should know that if he becomes angry or affected then he has aided
his antagonist. But if he is indifferent, unmoved, and oblivious to it, then he
has surely confronted his adversary with the thing he hates the most. Because
preventing his antagonist from his goal causes his adversary, grief and
anguish.
