Fudhail Ibn ‘Iyaadh –Rahimahullah said:
“The sign of Zuhd (abstention) from the world and from the
people, is that you do not love to have the people praise you. And that you are
not afftected by them dispraising you. If you are able to remain unknown, do so. It
is not important that you are known! There is no harm upon you if they do
not praise you or if you are dispraised by them as long as you are praiseworthy
with Allah! ”
