The Messenger of Allah, may Allah exalt his mention and grant
him safety, said:
The Imaam protects and cares for the prayer,and the one who
performs the call the prayer is someone who can be trusted. O’ Allah,guide our
Imaams, and forgive those who perform the call to prayer (i.e. in case of any
shortcomings)(1).
Manaar as-Sabeel (pg. 59) states:
The call to prayer is not valid when performed by a
disobedient person. This is because the Messenger of Allah, may Allah exalt his
mention and grant him safety, described he who performs the call to prayer as
trustworthy, and a disobedient is not trustworthy.
As it relates to a person whose condition is unknown, the
call to prayer is valid when he performs it. Shams ad-Deen Ibn al-Qudamah
mentioned in “ash Sharh”(i.e. a well-known Hanabali fiqh book) that: ”We don’t
know of any differing concerning this issue.”
