Taking The Means That Bring About A Good Ending
Striving to take the means that lead to good ending:
وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ
(And do not die except as Muslims)
This is a command from Allāh
سبحان وتعالى that the believer should not die except
he is a Muslim holding fast to his religion; does a person have control over
whether he dies as Muslim or is it in the hands of Allāh سبحان
وتعالى? This is in the hands of Allāh, سبحان
وتعالى.
However, the meaning of His saying: (وَلَا
تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ), And do not die
except as Muslims, is: Be firm and steadfast upon eeman and upon Islām; whoever
is firm and steadfast upon eeman and upon Islām
then he has carried out the means by which Allāh سبحان
وتعالى will grant him a good ending, the one who has lived his life
upon something will die upon it.
So in this is an encouragement for a person to hold fast to
his religion and to be patient upon it, so that his death does not arrive
whilst he is sinning, as a result his life is ended with an evil ending.
Who ever lives his life upon something he will be given an
ending with that; whoever lived his life in obedience and loving Allāh and His
Messenger then he has taken the means which will bring about for him a good
ending. As for the one who commits sins and acts of disobedience then he has
taken the means that will bring about for him an evil ending.
So let the people take heed of this.1
