Whether Reading The Qur’ān From A Mobile Phone Takes The Ruling of Reading From The Muṣḥaf | Shaykh Ṣālih al-Fawzān

The Questioner: Good, O Shaykh as follow up to that question, Reading [Qur’ān] from a mobile phone, does this require ablution (wuū)?

Shaykh ālih al-Fawzān: “It does not require ablution (wuū) because it is not a physical Qur’ān (Muṣḥaf) and thus it does not take the rulings of the physical Qur’ān (Muṣḥaf). So it is similar to reciting from memory. It is lawful for the one who has experienced the lesser form of ritual impurity. As for the one who has experienced the greater ritual impurity, then he should not read the Qur’ān. Not from the physical Qur’ān (Muṣḥaf), nor from the mobile phone nor from memory until an individual has purified himself.”
