From Uqbah bin Amir that he heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu
alayhi wasallam) say: “Every man is beneath the shade of his charity
until the people are judged (on the Day of Judgement).”
Marthad bin Abdullaah wouldn’t come to the masjid except with
something to give in charity. Once he brought some onions and when asked why he
brought these onions when the smell would affect his garment he said, “I have
nothing else in my house to give charity with and a man from the Companions
informed me from Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) that he
said, “The shade of a believer on the Day of Judgement will be his charity.”
