KNOWLEDGE: The Key to Happiness
THE FOUNDATION OF ALL KNOWLEDGE
Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah said:
Knowledge of Allāh is the foundation of all knowledge, and the foundation of the
servant’s knowledge of that which brings
him benefit in his worldly life and next life. And (the servant’s) ignorance of Him (i.e. Allāh)
necessitates ignorance of himself, what completes his self , that which purifies it, and
that with which it succeeds. So knowledge (of Allāh) is
happiness for the servant, and being ignorance of (Allāh) is the source of his
unhappiness.
