Anas b. Mālik raḍiallāhu ‘anh said: The Messenger of Allāh ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “When a man leaves his home and says:

8. Anas b. Mālik raḍiallāhu ‘anh said: The Messenger of Allāh ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “When a man leaves  his home  and says:

بِسمِ اللهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ، لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ

In the Name of Allāh. I put my trust in Allāh. There is no movement or power except by Allāh.

It will be said to this person: “This is sufficient for you. You have been guided, sufficed, and protected. Then the shayṭān will leave him and say to another shayṭān: How can you approach someone who has been guided, sufficed, and protected?!”¹²

Shaykh ‘Abd al-Razzāq al-‘Abbād ḥafidahullāh stated:

This is a blessed statement of remembrance that is beneficial for the Muslim to say whenever he leaves his home to conduct a worldly or religious matter. He does so that he is protected while he is outed, assisted while he is completing his tasks, and successful in what he intends to accomplish. The servant cannot subsist without his Lord, even the blink of an eye.

He is his protector, his assistor, the One to grant success and the One who guides. The servant cannot obtain  these (guidance, protection, support, etc.) except that he turns to his Lord, the Mighty and High, and seeks what he desires. For this reason, the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam advised the person who leaves his home to say this blessed supplication in order that he may guided on his path and so that his needs and wants are fulfilled, in addition to him being protected from harm and dangers.¹³

Qur’an and Sunnah contain Adhkar and supplications for refuge and protection against all physical and psychological diseases - (Fatwas of Ibn Baz volume 9)

My wife suffers from a certain disease that causes her to fear every thing and not to be able to be alone at home while another questioner mentioned that he suffers from the same problem to the extent that he can not go to the Masjid (mosque) to perform Salah (Prayer) with the congregation. He asked for a remedy for his disease away from soothsayers and charlatans.

The Shaykh advised the two questioners along with all those who are concerned to use the Adhkar (invocations and remembrances said at certain times on a regular basis) which are ordained by Allah (Exalted be He) that achieve safety, tranquility, peace and protection against Satan's tricks.

Among these Adhkar is reciting Ayat-ul-Kursy (the Qur’anic Verse of Allah’s Chair, Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255): Allāh! Lā ilāha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), Al-Hayyul-Qayyum (the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists).

His Eminence Shaykh Ibn Baz described Ayat-ul-Kursy as being the best and greatest Ayah (Qur’anic verse) for it stresses the principle of Tawhid (belief in the Oneness of Allah) and devotion to Allah (Glorified be He). It also shows Allah’s Majesty and that He is the Ever Living, the Owner of everything and nothing weakens Him (may He be Glorified and Praised). The Shaykh continued saying that when a person reads this Ayah after each Salah and before going to bed, it protects him against all evils.

The Shaykh then quoted the Sahih (authentic) Hadith in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whoever recites Ayat Al-Kursi on going to bed, Allah will assign an angel to protect them and Satan will not approach them until the morning.

The Shaykh asked the questioners to try this proven prescription so that their hearts may be tranquil and that they do not see any harmful thing because the Prophet (peace be upon him) only told about the undoubted truth.

Our eminent Shaykh emphasized that Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) ordained that every male and female Muslim is to recite Surah (Qur’anic chapter) Al-Ikhlas and Al-Mu`awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Falaq and Al-Nas) after performing every obligatory Salah. He continued that doing so is one of the causes of being healthy, safe, and cure from all diseases. In addition, the reward that a person receives for reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas equals that which they receive for reciting one third of the Qur’an.

Shaykh `Abdul-`Aziz ibn Baz pointed out that it is a Sunnah (a commendable act) that a person recites the three Surahs mentioned above three times after Fajr (Dawn) Prayer, Maghrib (Sunset) Prayer, and when going to bed for there are Sahih Hadith to this effect.

Verily, As-Salât (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahshâ’ (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse) and Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed) and the remembering (praising) of (you by) Allâh (in front of the angels) is greater indeed [than your remembering (praising) of Allâh in prayers]. (Sûrah 29: Ayah 45)

اتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ ۖ إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنكَرِ ۗ وَلَذِكْرُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ (45)

Recite (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) what has been revealed to you of the Book (the Qur’ân), and perform As-Salât (Iqamât-as-Salât). Verily, As-Salât (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahshâ’ (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse) and Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed)^[2] and the remembering (praising) of (you by) Allâh (in front of the angels) is greater indeed [than your remembering (praising) of Allâh in prayers]. And Allâh knows what you do. [Sûrah 29. Al-‘Ankabût Ayah 45]

^[2] It is said by Ibn’Abbâs and ‘Abdullâh bin Mas’ûd رضى الله عنهما: If the Salât (prayer) of anyone does not prevent him from Al-Fahshâ’ and Al-Munkar (all kinds of evil, illegal and sinful deeds), then his Salât (prayer) increases him in nothing but loss, and to be far away from his Lord (Allah) [Tafsīr Al-Qurtubī].
