ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
…And likewise loving the speech of Allaah, indeed it is from the signs (of your love) for Allaah. If you want to know how much love you and other than yourself have for Allaah then look to how much love you have for the Qur’ān in your heart. The delight you find in listening (to the Qur’ān) is greater than the delight the people of amusement and music find in their listening to melodious sounds. It is known that he who loves someone will love his speech and conversation more than anything else. As it was said:
If your claim of loving (Allaah) was true, then why do you abandon His Book, have you not pondered upon what it contains of delightful speech.
