Rulings Pertaining to Ṣalāt al-Eid

بـسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
1. One
should prepare for it by bathing, wearing one’s best clothing and
perfuming oneself.
2. It
is Sunnah to eat dates before Eid al-Fitr prayer – as for Eid al-Aḍḥā then it is Sunnah to eat
after the prayer.
3. It
is Sunnah to make the takbir from when an
individual leaves his home and he should raise his voice with it. As for women,
they pronounce it silently.
4. It
is Sunnah to go out to Ṣalāt al-Eid via walking.
5. It
is Sunnah that one leaves Ṣalāt al-Eid via a path other than the path they came from.
6. It
is legislated to pray Ṣalāt al-Eid after sunrise when the sun rises to the length of a spear
above the horizon.
7. There
is no adhān or iqāmah for Ṣalāt al-Eid.
8. If
Eid day falls on Jumu’ah then Jumu’ah is not
obligatory upon the one who
prayed Ṣalāt al-Eid.
9. It
is recommended to make up Ṣalāt al-Eid with its
description for the one who missed it with the Muslims.
10. There
is no problem with people visiting each other and saying to each
other “taqabbal Allāh minnā wa minkum –
may Allah accept from us and you.”
11. The
day of Eid is the day of happiness.
12. Beware,
my Muslim brother, of falling into that which opposes the Sharī’ah (i.e. sins, innovation, etc).
