Madly in Love with Another's Looks

Ibn al-Qayyim said:

One of the scholars was asked about [people who are] madly in love with [other people’s attractive] images and looks,¹ so he said:

“[They have] hearts that have left off remembering Allāh, so Allāh put them to trial by subjecting them to other than Him [in worship¹].”

¹Their love and subjection to them is as much as or greater than to Allāh. See fatwa 9634, alifta.net. (Trans.)
