The One Who Complains Of Hunger &Thirst While Fasting by the Noble Scholar of Islām, al-‘Allāmah, Ahmad al-Najmī (رحمه الله)

The One Who Complains of Hunger and Thirst While Fasting

By the Noble Scholar of Islām, al-‘Allāmah, Amad  al-Najmī
Translated by Abū al-asan Mālik Ādam al- Akhar

Questioner

What is the ruling concerning the person who while fasting complains to others about the burden of al-Sawn, as in his statement, ”I am hungry” and “I feel hungry and thirsty”? Does this nullify the reward? - as this is often heard from some who fast.

Al-‘Allāmah Amad al-Najmī

I have previously stated that al-Sawn is only invalidated by that which breaks the fast; and it appears that  [this complaining] diminishes its reward, if by this the person  intends to express displeasure with fasting, and success is from Allāh.
