The
Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم stated:
“Indeed
Allah does not look toward your bodies, nor to your appearances, but rather, He
looks to your hearts.”[Muslim 2564]
Shaikh
Ibn ul-‘Uthaymeen رحمه الله mentioned:
“Allah
does not look to His servants whether their bodies are big or small, or healthy
or ill..
And
He does not look to their appearances, are they beautiful or not…
And
He does not look to lineages, are they high and noble or otherwise…
And
He does not look to wealth (are you wealthy or in poverty)…
Indeed
there is no connection between you and your Lord except through Taqwa (fearing
Allah, fulfilling commandments & refraining from prohibitions).
So
whomsoever has a greater taqwa of Allah is closer to Allah, and is more
honourable with Allah.
So
do not take pride in your wealth, or your beauty, or your body, or children, or
your palaces, or your cars, or anything from the worldly affairs.
…Rather,
if Allah gives you success in achieving Taqwa then that is from the virtue of
Allah upon you so praise Him upon that.”
