Fatwá: Women Dancing Amongst Themselves | Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādi’ī (رحمه الله)

Women Dancing Amongst Themselves

Question:

What is the ruling on a woman dancing amongst women and is there a criterion for that?

Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādi’ī (رَحِمَهُ اللهُ) said:

If it does not resemble the enemies of Islām and it is within the boundaries of the customs of the Sharī’ah then there is no harm with that. [However], if it resembles the enemies of Islām and it is not within the boundaries of the etiquette of the Sharī’ah then it is not permissible.

I do not know the [manner of] dancing of modern women in this time so I cannot  give a [specific] ruling upon it however this is the criterion [for its permissibility or impermissibility]. May Allāh bless you.
