What is a pure heart?
It is a heart which is free of Shirk (polytheism)
and free of doubts. It is a heart which is free of malice, rancorous envy,
stinginess, and arrogance. It is a heart which does not love evil, and a heart
which is content with the Sunnah and free of bid’ah (innovations in the
religion).

The
Importance of Purity of the Heart
Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Rajab [d. 795 AH] said:
…
So if
his heart is pure, containing nought but the love of Allāh and love for that
which is beloved to Allāh, [and he possesses] knowledgeable fear of Allāh and
fear of falling into that which He detests, [he will find] himself engaging in
righteous deeds only.
