The Prophet - صلى الله علي سلم – said (as occurs in the
hadeeth of Aisha – رضي الله
عنها )
“Whoever seeks to please Allah, by way of that which displeases the people, Allah will be pleased with him and will make the people
pleased with him. And whosoever seeks to please the people through the
displeasure of Allah, Allah
will be displeased with him, and
will make the people displeased with him.”
