years & 3000 + Miles on Foot in Pursuit of Knowledge
Imām
Abu Hātim al-Rāzi (d. 277 H) said: “The first time that I had set out to
acquire hadīth I remained away from home for 7 years. I walked
more than 1000 farsakh (3000 miles) – I counted (the distance I had covered on
foot) till it reached 1000 farsakh; thereafter I stopped counting.”
