What makes a poor
person rich, & a rich person poor?
“From the blessings
of Allah upon the servant is that he gives him contentment (fulfillment &
serenity, being in a state of peace) whether it be with his home, or his
clothes, or his (riding animal) vehicle, or his offspring…but if that contentment
is stripped from his heart then he is poor.”
(Sh.’Uthaymīn Explanation of Bulūgh ul-Marām: (5/272)
Note:
A poor person in poverty with very little to show for himself in terms of
possessions may be richer than the wealthiest of people due to Allah making him
content and at ease with whatever little he has been given…& the richest of
people may be in poverty due to that contentment being stripped from his heart.
