WORDS OF REMEMBRANCE TO BE SAID BEFORE THE RISING AND SETTING OF THE SUN
*Imaam an-Nasaa·ee said in his ʿ`Amalul-Yawm wal-Laylahʾ (no.827):
“Muhammad ibn `Abdir-Rahmaan ibn Ash`ath related to us, saying: Aboo Mushir related to us, saying: Hiql ibn Ziyaad narrated to us, saying: alAwzaa`ee narrated to me: from `Amr ibn Shu`ayb: from his father: from his grandfather: “The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said:
<< Whoever says:
سُبْحَانَ الله
Subhaanallaah (I declare Allaah free from all imperfections)
one-hundred times before the sun rises and before it sets, then it is better than one-hundred camels.
And whoever says:
الْحَمْدُ الله
al-hamdu lillaah (All praise is for Allaah)
one-hundred times before the sun rises and before it sets, then it is better than one-hundred horses carrying loads upon them.
And whoever says:
اللهُ أَكْبَرُ
Allaahu akbar (Allaah is greater than everything)
one-hundred times before the sun rises and before it sets, then it is better than setting free one hundred slaves.
2And whoever says:
Laa ilaaha illallaah, wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-Mulku wa lahul-Hamdu, wa huwa `alaa kulli shay·in Qadeer
(None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, having no partner. Sovereignty is His, and all praise is for Him, and He has full power over everything)
one-hundred times before the sun rises and before it sets, then no-one will come on the Day of Resurrection with an action better than his action, except for one who said the like of his saying, or increased upon it >>.”
[ Declared ‘Hasan’ by Shaikh al-Albaanee in ‘Saheehut-Targheeb’ (no. 658).]
