On
Completing the Recitation of the Whole Qurʾān
in Ramaḍān
Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn
(رَحِمَهُ اللهُ): “Completing the Qurʾān in Ramaḍān is not obligatory matter for the
fasting person. However, it is desirable for a person to increase in the recitation
of the Qurʾān during Ramaḍān, as was the Sunnah of the Messenger of
Allāh (صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ). For Jibrīl
would revise the Qurʾān
with him during every Ramaḍān.”
Majmūʿ Fatāwā Ibn ʿUthaymīn (Dār Thurayyā, 1423 H) 20/184.

Note:
Many of the Salaf used to complete the Qurʾān
during Ramaḍān multiple times,
taking varying numbers of days for each
completion. And this returns back to the ability of each person and his
preoccupation. Al-Nawawī explained that each person should stick to the rate at
which he is able to comprehend what he is reciting.
