On the authority of
Yahya ibn Awn who said myself and Sahnoon visited ibn Qassar whilst he was
sick.Sahnoon said to him, ”Why are you worried and anxious?
Ibn Qasaar
replied, ”Death and going to my Lord.”
So Sahnoon said to
him:
“Do you not believe
in the messengers, the resurrection, the taking of accounts, paradise and the hellfire?
And do you not
believe that the most virtuous after the Prophet ﷺ in this nation
is Abu Bakr, then Umar رضي الله عنهما. And
that the Qur’an is the words of Allah, not created?
And do you not believe that Allah will be seen on the day of
judgment and that he rose above His throne?
And do you not believe that reviling the ruler, even if they
oppress is impermissible?
Ibn Qasaar replied:
“Yes by Allah, I do.”
Sahnoon then said,
“Die if you wish, die if you wish. ”(Meaning if one dies in
this condition with the correct creed and methodology then we hope good for
him).
