Sahl Ibn ‘Abdullaah رحمه
الله said:
“The one who carries out (only) acts of obedience to Allaah
does not become beloved to Allaah, but the one who (also) stays away from what
Allaah has prohibited from, and becomes beloved to Allaah. No one stays away from
sins except one who is truthful (to Allaah) and one who is close (to Allaah). As
for the acts of righteousness, both the righteous and the sinner carry them
out.”
